General Summary:
Job Scope
Process Owner of Final Inspection and AOI (Automatic Optical Inspection).
Train Process Technician and support 24/7 wafer fab operator team.
Operate defect inspection tools (AOI and microscopes).
Create and optimize recipes for all defect inspection tool types.
Investigate and dispose low yield wafer lots.
Analyse inline defect data from inspection and SEM review tools.
Troubleshoot and shutdown affected process tools based on data analysis.
Support process modules and yield engineering for inline defect support.
Integrate defect data into yield enhancement software.
Job Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive wafer scrap analysis, identify root causes for defect low yield and drive Operations for improvements.
Feedback and work closely with process modules on process-related low yield issues so as to come up with effective containment and corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Lead quality investigations and continuous improvement programs to resolve chronic process and quality issues, and institute permanent resolutions to assure product quality and enhance process robustness.
Identify potential frontend fab process steps/areas as opportunities for baseline defect improvement and work closely with process/equipment engineers via various yield improvement projects.
Apply hands-on and with deep involvement at work.
Guide process technicians in problem solving and analysis.
Take accountability of work and possesses strong sense of responsibility.
Provide process, failure and yield analyses and defect review trainings to all technicians to build up their technical competencies.
Contribute lessons learnt into knowledge base for sustainability.
KPI / Expectations
Meet the KPI targets for output, scraps, quality and costs.
Effective execution of tasks to achieve overall FE yield target.
Achieve minimum quality excursions affecting backend.
Zero customer returns attributed to FE.
Provide timely feedback on low yield / quality issues with analysis / investigation report and summary of root cause & recommended actions to Operations within 5 working days.
Zero tolerance for CSR, EHS, ESD, 5S requirement and cleanroom protocol.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications / Experience:
At least a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience in high volume manufacturing of electronics components in an MNC or semi-conductor industry.
Direct working experience in wafer fab process integration will be added advantage.
Possess strong technical competencies in his field of study.
Able to work under pressure and with strong commitment at work.
Possess SQL capability
Good knowledge of statistical and quality tools.
Experience with software applications such as MS Power Point, Excel and Word.
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:
Good knowledge of wafer fab manufacturing processes and capable of applying them effectively at work.
Knowledge on defect engineering with defect review experience.
Strong organizational, communications, and interpersonal skills.
Systematic troubleshooting and problem solving skills using DMAIC, cause-and- effect, 5Whys analysis, KT tools, etc.
Application of quality and SPC tools at work - FMEA, DOE, SPC, etc.
Dynamic, resourceful, creative, innovative and self-driven.
Manage changes effectively.
Level of Responsibility:
• Works under supervision.
• Decision-making affects direct area of work and/or work group.
• Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey basic, routine factual information.
