JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Office of Alumni Relations and Development in the College of the Liberal Arts (https://la.psu.edu/) seeks a creative communications professional to serve as its next Donor Communications Writer (Marketing and Communications Specialist) .
The primary role of the Donor Communications Writer is to conceptualize and produce strategic communications materials that recognize and strengthen donor engagement with, and philanthropic support of, the College and its strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities:
Writing, editing, and distributing materials (philanthropic impact reports, fact sheets, stories) that inspire alumni and other stakeholders to establish or deepen their relationship with the College
Researching, translating complex subject matter, and interviewing sources to produce content
Writing gift acknowledgment letters on behalf of the College’s Dean and the Senior Director of Development
Coordinating the collection and distribution of scholarship thank you letters from students to donors
Developing tools to ensure regular and effective contact with Liberal Arts' donors
Managing all communications related to the College’s donor stewardship efforts
As a key member of the Alumni Relations and Development team, the Donor Communications Writer will report to the College’s Associate Director of Donor Stewardship and will work collaboratively with the College’s Dean and Strategic Communications team.
This position will require working evening or weekend hours on a minimal occasion (typically 2-3 times a year).

Education and Experience :This position typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A degree in Journalism, Communications, or English is preferred. Other required qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to be a dynamic self-starter who is able to work in a large team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and adhere to deadlines
Demonstrated attention to detail
Possesses content creation creativity
