In the summer of 2024 we will have a vacancy for a 12 month placement within the Fluids product development testing team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a team of highly skilled engineers. This role is only available to current students who are eligibile to work in the UK. Salary is £23,000 pa.
This position provides an ideal opportunity to gain insight and experience in a commercial CFD environment. You would gain experience in all aspects of the software including mesh generation, physics pre-processing, solver and post-processing.
The testing team is responsible for testing the ANSYS CFX software, other ANSYS software components and managing acceptance testing for each release of the products.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Software testing engineer assigned to the Testing Team in the UK office.Approximately half of the job involves the following subtasks:Test the software effectively providing high quality feedback to developers on how to improve the software quality, within the appropriate timescales.Gaining a thorough knowledge of the software under test, an understanding of how it may be used by customers and of CFD.Gaining knowledge of development tools and operating systems. Working on verification and validation of new models in the solver.Other aspects of the post include:Assisting in the production of test specifications, requiring knowledge and skill in the software application to be tested, together with a thorough understanding of CFD. It also requires some understanding of the likely problematic areas in the software.Gaining knowledge of the automated testing systems and using it to develop new tests for the products being tested. Gaining scripting experience. To carry out acceptance testing specifications. This involves the creation and performance of acceptance test specifications, including installations, licensing, regression tests and manual testing.
In addition there will be the opportunity to do specific projects aimed at helping you attain your academic qualification. Appropriate time during your placement will be allocated to allow you to work on such projects.
This placement will give the successful applicant valuable experience in commercial engineering software within a dynamic team environment.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Undergraduate in an engineering discipline - aeronautical, mechanical or chemical.Experience in one or more programming languages (for example Jscript, Python) is desirable.Basic engineering simulation software knowledge (CFD)An inquisitive, pro-active and methodical approach to work.Ability to work on your own as well as part of a team.Proven ability to tackle difficult tasks, taking them to their logical conclusion.

The successful candidate will be hardworking, capable of working under pressure and able to work on his or her own initiative when required, or as part of a team. Good communications skills are essential.
