Process Engineers at Meta work to develop processes, research and pilot-scale tools, and prototypes for optical and display components using semiconductor and optical fabrication techniques.

Wet Process Nanofabrication Engineer Responsibilities:
Own the development and optimization of new and existing wet clean and etch processes to meet build specifications in support of near-eye optical components
Supports integration and researchers to understand wet cleans and etch process capabilities in accordance with approved EHS guidelines, process flow, appropriate cleaning chemistries, and process module integration challenges
Define and execute strategic sector projects involving definition and selection of new processing approaches, tooling, and manufacturability improvements
Develop tool and process specification documents, engage with suppliers, coordinate installation, and drive qualification of new tools
Serve as the tool operational expert, develop Standard-Operation-Procedure documentation, safety protocols, and train operations and engineering team members
Implement statistical control methods & monitor performance, proactively identifying improvement projects
Identify key process metrics and understand relationships between sector metrics and downstream module performance
Develop design of experiments (DOE) to quantify process window and characterize process parameter responses
Partner with Metrology team to gather complementary surface characterization and defectivity measurements for qualifying new or improved wet processes
Build collaborative relationships between internal research and external development partners
Communicate effectively with both management, peers, and external partners
Minimum Qualifications:

BS or master's in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science, physics or similar fields
3+ years of direct experience in process development and characterization of wet clean and etch processes technology related to optical component or semiconductor fabrication applications
Experience working with equipment vendors, equipment engineers, and EHS to design, implement, and maintain wet cleaning systems in accordance with local waste management regulations
Experience and knowledge in SPC methods, variation analysis, and data-analysis techniques
Experience using structured problem-solving framework for root cause analysis, familiar with RCA tools and facilitating structured problem-solving efforts

2+ years direct experience with wet cleans and surface metrology processes in fabricating near-eye optical elements
1+ years of direct experience in an industrial Research and Development environment developing scalable processes with knowledge of nanofabrication processes including film deposition, etch, and critical -to-quality metrology
Advanced knowledge of Design-of-Experiments, PFMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis tools
Interpersonal communication and cross-functional partnership experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
Organizational skills and demonstrated experience to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and experience in reacting to shifting priorities to meet business needs and deadlines
Public Compensation:
$111,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
