Summary
As the Vice President of Solutions for the Public Sector (PS), you bring extensive business leadership and influence to drive the commercial success of the PS vertical. Collaborating with Sales and Product Marketing counterparts, your role involves co-developing the PS vertical strategy, executing operational plans, and ensuring alignment with Workiva's broader company strategy through matrixed leadership of dedicated functional groups supporting the vertical. Your focus lies in strategy, innovation, growth, and execution.
What You'll Do:
Leadership and Solution Development: Manages the activities of Public Sector solutions, recognizing overarching trends in understanding business requirements and corresponding software product needs, emphasizing the broader customer base's needs.
Align, co-develop, and oversee the execution of quarterly, annual, and multi-year strategic plans for the growth and scalability of the Public Sector vertical, aligning with the company's strategic, financial, and operational objectives.
Ensure overall product and Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies align with customer/market requirements, competitive positioning, and support customer growth and retention objectives in collaboration with product and GTM teams.
Create an executable roadmap, collaborating with R&D (Product & Engineering), aligning with the solution strategy and broader platform growth strategy.
Evaluate and influence critical investments in product, marketing, sales, services, partners, and customer success to support solution success and growth.
Develop KPIs, goals, and targets for functions supporting the solution business.
Act as an industry expert, representing and promoting the Public Sector through networking, attending conferences, and developing/presenting on relevant topics.
Develop tactical programs to pursue targeted goals and objectives for the business.
Maintain a deep understanding of customer needs, user requirements, market trends, industry dynamics, competition, and relevant data.
Engage with prospective/existing clients, providing support to solution sales and success teams through in-person and virtual meetings.
Stakeholder Relationship Management: Fosters relationships with internal teams to ensure successful growth of Public Sector solutions.
Collaborate with supporting functional teams to analyze, monitor, forecast, and prioritize initiatives aligned with the Public Sector vertical and overall organizational priorities and strategic plan.
Influence and align with Services, Customer Success, and Partner teams to define executable service, support, and partner strategies.
Engage with senior/executive management in broader organizational strategic planning and budgeting.
Collaborate with other Solution Owners to identify joint GTM initiatives, product roadmap priorities, solution offerings, and share best practices.
Lead a matrix-based cross-functional team, consisting of core team leads and associated resources, dedicated to achieving solution and plan objectives.
Prepare and present a quarterly business review to the Workiva leadership team in collaboration with PS Solution functional teams.
What You'll Need:
Minimum qualifications:
15+ years of progressive business, product, operations and/or government experience.
Undergraduate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
Knowledge of trends in the PS industry (state, local, education, fed).
Preferred qualifications:
Experience building and executing GTM strategies in the PS industry.
Experience working with partners for GTM and delivery/implementation.
Strong financial and operational expertise.
MBA degree preferred.
Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver SaaS solutions.
Scaling product portfolio/business units throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Expanding and innovating existing product offerings.
Excellent business acumen and strategic thinking.
Executive-level communication and relationship-building skills.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and drive results.
Ability to negotiate, influence, and resolve conflicts.
Familiarity with the digital transformation of finance and the technology landscape within PS.
Deep understanding of and practical experience with regulations across PS and the impact on financial/compliance reporting requirements and business processes.
Working Conditions & Travel Requirements:
Flexible up to 30%.
Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, not in a Workiva office.

Salary range in the US:$259,000.00 - $341,000.00Eligible for commission based on sales performanceRestricted Stock Units granted at time of hire401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package
