About the Role:
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Marketing Data Science and Technology this role will be responsible for executing on Dow Jones’ next-gen approach to marketing data science, analytics and technology, in support of both our direct to consumer and business to business propositions. This seasoned leader will be responsible for building and leading a team with a primary focus on utilizing data, predictive modeling and analytics to optimize performance, improve customer segmentation and retention, and enhance overall marketing effectiveness.

Strategic Leadership: Execute a strategic vision for marketing data science, aligning it with the overall business objectives.
Predictive Modeling and Forecasting: Build predictive models to anticipate customer behavior, such as churn, lifetime value, and purchase propensity. Develop forecasting models to estimate marketing campaign performance, ROI, and resource allocation.
Data Infrastructure and Technology: Collaborate with data engineering teams to establish and maintain robust data infrastructure, ensuring data quality, accessibility, and security. Evaluate and implement appropriate data science tools, platforms, and technologies to streamline processes and enhance data-driven marketing capabilities.
Data-driven Marketing Strategies: Utilize advanced analytics techniques to analyze large volumes of customer data, including demographic information, transactional data, online behavior, and social media data. Derive actionable insights to optimize marketing strategies, improve customer targeting, and personalize marketing campaigns.
Customer Segmentation: Develop sophisticated customer segmentation models based on behavioral, attitudinal, and demographic variables. Collaborate with marketing teams to leverage these segments for personalized marketing campaigns, customer retention initiatives, and upsell/cross-sell opportunities.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, product, and finance, to understand their business needs and translate them into data-driven solutions. Present insights and recommendations to senior executives and stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.
Industry Trends and Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in marketing analytics, data science methodologies, AI and data software solutions. Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement within the marketing data science function and build out next-gen capabilities.
Team Management: Build and manage a team of data scientists, analysts and data innovators and provide mentorship, guidance, and support. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging professional growth and development within the team.
You Have:
15+ years experience in Data Science, strategy, data, marketing, and/or general management preferred.
3-5+ years experience in senior management roles.
Degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related disciplines.
Extensive experience in marketing analytics, data science, or a related field, preferably in a leadership role.
Strong expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, data mining, and predictive analytics.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL, along with experience in working with large-scale databases and data manipulation.
Deep understanding of marketing principles, customer segmentation strategies, and digital marketing channels.
Excellent leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
Strong business acumen and the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with data visualization and reporting tools, such as Tableau or Power BI.
Familiarity with marketing automation platforms, CRM systems, and digital analytics tools is a plus
