POSITION PURPOSE: The Sustainable Industries and Buildings (SIB) enterprise boasts robust and distinctive circular economy solutions, particularly in water and energy management, wastewater operations, water reuse system design, and the handling of oil-bearing streams across various industries. Our business models encompass the entire spectrum, from design, build, own, operate, and maintain (DBOOM) to the operation and maintenance of customer-owned facilities.
Our primary objective is to spearhead the ecological transformation of heavy industries. We achieve this by offering innovative solutions coupled with world-class operations, empowering industries to reduce their overall environmental impact. In this role, collaboration with the Senior Vice President (SVP) is pivotal to advancing the overall business in our core markets: refining, petrochemicals, mining, chemicals, power, and electrification markets. Responsibilities include cultivating strong relationships within customer organizations, fostering business growth at existing sites, identifying market trends and needs, and devising business models to seize growth opportunities in these core markets and sectors.
The VP of Business Development will play a critical role in driving the company's growth by identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities, establishing strategic partnerships, and expanding our customer base.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
Develop and implement the company's business development strategy to achieve growth objectives, aligning with the overall company vision.
Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities through market research, industry analysis, and competitor assessment.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders, including potential clients, partners, and investors.
Lead the negotiation and closure of strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and licensing agreements to enhance the company's market position.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Marketing, Product Development, and Finance, to ensure a cohesive approach to business development initiatives.
Monitor industry trends, market dynamics, and customer needs to identify potential areas for expansion or diversification.
Conduct regular market analysis to identify emerging opportunities, threats, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decision-making.
Develop and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to potential clients, partners, and investors.
Collaborate with the Sales team to develop and execute effective sales strategies that drive revenue growth.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the business development team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
12+ years’ experience in business development within the Energy & Utilities or Engineering Services industry.
Proven experience working sales targeted in the Boston and Northeast markets.
Experience leading a sales team.
Hands-on project experience working directly with clients.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Strategic plan development with a track record of delivering growth.
Marketing experience with a proven track record of results.
Large, complex project management experience
Track record of closing commercial contracts ranging from transactional to large complex deals
Track record of leading marketing sales and business development organizations
Ability to build and lead diverse organizations.
Proven people development track record
Ability to lead through influence.
Proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Knowledge of Google Suite of software ideal
Demonstrated commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations and adherence to Veolia Values and the company’s Code of Business Conduct and other company policies and procedures.
Minimum of 20 years of experience in marketing, developing complex deals, and a proven track record in sales and sales management (personal and team management).
Development and execution of growth strategies and supporting marketing plans..
Detailed knowledge of refining (especially water systems, and a working. knowledge of petroleum refinery unit operations), mining/metals recovery (sulfuric acid plants, metal recovery) and water/wastewater and water reuse operations.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, persuasive, presentation and written communication skills.
Ability to build relationships within the Veolia and customer organizations at the site, business management, and executive levels.
Language skills are a plus (French and / or Spanish).
Ability to support 50% travel to sites, project, or customer locations.
