Velan Studios, Inc. in Troy, New York seeks a Video Game Design Lead in its Troy studio to plan, direct and manage video game projects and tool and technology development. Develop and manage highlevel project documentation and technical stack. Continuously improve the video game design process by managing the studio’s software engineering processes and developing process improvements. Assemble, manage, supervise and coach project-specific teams of software developers, video game designers, and other technical personnel.Serve as a liaison between business, artistic and technical staff, translating business strategy and design documents into technical implementation at a high level. Resolve conflicts between artistic and player experience targets, business goals, and technical capabilities. Monitor and assess the progress of technical development projects, setting and assessing compliance with deadlines, quality standards and budgets. This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related. The successful candidate will possess the following: 5 years' experience as Software Engineer or equivalent in the video game industry to include: - 5 years' experience using C and C++; - 5 years' experience using Visual Studio, Review Board, Perforce, or equivalent tools; and - 3 years' experience using Unity, GLSL, Maya, Photoshop or equivalent tools.
