The global Corporate Communications team at BlackRock leads internal and external communications efforts that advance our purpose of helping more and more people experience financial well-being. Job Purpose/Background:
Based in Hong Kong, the role provides an opportunity to develop and implement a range of communications initiatives for BlackRock across the region. The candidate will partner closely across the global Corporate Communications team and effectively manage media requests both directly and through agency partners.
The candidate should be comfortable proactively driving media campaigns that deliver high-impact outcomes with key audiences while strengthening BlackRock's 'Share of Voice' in target media. The candidate will also have opportunities to contribute to other initiatives including issues management, public affairs programs, rapid response situations, etc.
The successful individual will report to a Director of the team in Hong Kong.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and drive innovative media engagement programs that build greater understanding and recognition of our brand, businesses, and social contributions. Help create core narratives and accompanying storyline for media interviews, article placements, and additional opportunities including digital/social/other platforms.Maintain strong relationships with media and continuously build new ones (across print/broadcast/online) including business/financial media, trade, and national media.Deep experience developing full range of press materials including press releases, by-lined articles, media statements, key messages, media Q&As, and briefing documents for our spokespeople.Develop excellent rapport with colleagues within different businesses, as well as with other functions such as marketing, legal, and compliance.Design and drive creative programs to harness global assets for regional deployment/engagement, as well as keep track of media (traditional, digital, and social) outcomes and respective measurements.Experience developing digital and social media strategies that amplify media activities and campaigns, both internally and externally.Partner with external agencies and other third-party vendors in convening media events, roundtables, press conferences and educational seminars.Comfortably handle regular media enquiries in a professional, timely, and efficient manner.Support internal communications as required, including select executive communications.Strong ability to create presentations that translate ideas and concepts into high-impact, effective, and engaging visual assets.
Experience and Qualifications:
Graduate or equivalent degree in communications, business/finance, journalism or marketing.Strong familiarity with Asia Pacific media, including 10-12 years of communications experience with 6-7 years of media relations expertise, ideally in the financial sector.Knowledge of financial services, asset management, mutual funds, ETFs and index investing, and understanding of capital markets (sustainability, low carbon transition, and technology a plus).A mature, independent achiever who is comfortable driving initiatives from inception to conclusion, with strong project management skills and attention to detail.A proactive team player and driven self-starter with strong work ethic and interest in bringing a unique perspective to the team and company.Ability to multitask and operate with a high-degree of flexibility in a fast-paced environment, as well as to stay calm under pressure and meet tight timelines.Ability to work effectively in a matrixed reporting environment - adaptable, reliable with a consistent 'can do attitude'Ability to understand different working style preferences and earn credibility with a range of internal partners across the organization and provide strategic input on internal and external engagement efforts as necessary.Strong ability to build relationships not only with journalists, but also within our global team and across our businesses. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Cantonese and/or Mandarin is a plus).Strong background in digital and social media programs, including campaign development, execution, and measurement to bring innovative ideas that integrate traditional, digital, and social media.Ability to translate concepts, ideas, and business agendas into high-impact, visually effective presentations (PowerPoint strongly preferred, MS Word also required).Experience in brand and reputation management and crisis management a plus.Interest in strengthening our culture through active participation in employee networks, local volunteer opportunities, and other employee-led initiatives.
