Overview of team
BlackRock Data Services (BDS) is a centralized data group dedicated to ensuring that all information required for the investment management process including positions, security data, pricing, risk, cash, net asset value, performance, and compliance are delivered through the BlackRock Green Package consistently, accurately and on a timely basis.
Candidates for this role will partner with our Green Package Services (GPS) team, whose responsibilities include reporting, understanding and ensuring the accuracy of analytics across various products to help our clients and portfolio managers understand their portfolio exposures, strategy, risk and returns and build tools for them to automate their work. GPS provides daily risk reporting and ad-hoc analytical support to over $15 trillion worth of assets under risk management.
Data Engineering team plays a key role in GPS's mission by providing leverage build operational processes and custom solutions in a timely, scalable and cost effective manner. One of BlackRock's biggest value propositions is the scale of the analytics platform and breadth of models to provide risk and return metrics across millions of securities and thousands of portfolios on a daily basis. The team is constantly challenged to improve the scale of the process and internal workflows tools, serving hundreds of internal users around the world, to keep up with business growth and rapidly evolving markets. Solutions require to stand the test of time, with strong underpinning of excellent design. The team is also frequently called upon to provide rapid-response tactical development and custom client solutions while longer-term Aladdin (BlackRock Solutions technology platform) integration takes time.

Job Responsibilities:
Analyze, design and develop automated processes, demonstrating process and programming techniques, to run BlackRock's proprietary financial models and reporting applications on all client portfolios and holdings dailyFind opportunities or drive self/team-initiated changes for increased throughput and quality in production processes, liaising with key operational teams. Ensure quality, cost and efficiency requirements are met using a variety of process improvement methodologies.Provide ongoing support and maintenance of existing process and applications. The team's global support model helps to minimize the need for on-call supportDevelop an increasing understanding of technologies and architectures, including enterprise architecture, design and implementation, software design and deployment of standard methodologiesA successful candidate will strive to establish strong relationship with key business teams, learning their business processes and needs, and then develop and implement new processes needed to support changes, efficiencies, and expense reduction in the business
Qualifications:
At least 10 years of experience on development sideBachelor's/MS degree in Information Systems and Technology / Computer Science / Mathematics/related fields.Good in programming knowledge in Java, or C++Strong knowledge of development standard methodologies, design patterns, and process design.Knowledge of Web technologies like JavaScript, AngularJS, HTML and AJAX is a plus.Knowledge of SQL or MySQLProficient in scripting language such as Python or other such scripting languages will be a good to havDemonstrates creativity in solving non-traditional problemsTeam management experience is preferredEnjoys a fast-paced, high-intensity, multi-functional environmentAbility to absorb high volume of information and data quicklyGood communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
