BWXT is currently seeking a Verification Testing Engineering Manager for its Lynchburg, VA – Ramsey Place location!
BWXT is seeking and experienced Testing Leader/Manager to lead the Project Pele prototype reactor test & test verification program.
BWXT’s AT group designs and develops innovative new nuclear reactors, medical radioisotope production systems, and develops data science and advanced manufacturing techniques for leading-edge applications. BWXT recently announced the award to build the first advanced nuclear microreactor in the United States. The Project Pele full-scale transportable microreactor prototype will be completed and delivered in 2024 for testing at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). BWXT is the prime contract and integration lead and is responsible for reactor module manufacture.

Job Description / Duties
Development of test plans and procedures for reactor module verification and validation testing.
Development of test plans and procedures for integrated power plant system verification and validation testing.
Lead a team of test engineers in the execution of verification and validation testing at BWXT.
Analyze test data and evaluate if the executed tests met the objectives.
Assist INL in the development of test plans and procedures for the execution of Pele Prototype testing including, initial criticality and power operations.
Lead a team of test engineers to provide onsite support to INL during prototype testing at as the reactor plant design and test representative.
Assist in the development of plant operating procedures.
Assist in the development of a training program for operators.
Job Qualifications / Requirements:
A minimum of 4 years of completed college or technical school /equivalent to (ie. Bachelor's degree or 2 years + 2 years completed).
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Nuclear, Electrical, Engineering, or similar discipline) is preferred.
A minimum of seven (7) years of work experience in engineering related field is required.
A minimum of five (5) years of supervisor / leadership experience in related field is required.
Must have experience with disciplined operations.
Must have experience working with and coordinating well with multiple intercompany organizations.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to self-direct with minimal day-to-day supervision.
Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with reactor plant systems operations and testing.
Experience with testing on new construction reactor plant systems.
Experience with reactor plant startup testing including initial criticality.
Active DOD or DOE Security Clearance.
