Job Description
Sign-on bonus up to $5,000
The Vascular Ultrasound Technician performs a variety of procedures involving the use of high frequency sound waves to investigate the internal aspects of upper and lower extremities, cerebrovascular structures as well as various related abdominal vascular components. Requires a high degree of technical knowledge pertaining to acoustics and its various interactions within the human body. An in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology is also required so the technologist can evaluate laboratory data, past medical history and pertinent symptoms to tailor the vascular examination to each patient individually. Sets up and operates equipment, manipulating transducers and adjusting console dials to obtain a clear recording of specified sections of the body. Records each examination on system hard drive and PACs. Assists radiologists and/or vascular surgeons in interpretation by describing anatomy, anatomical location and acoustic characteristics of each film or computer report. Develops and presents instructional program of technical vascular procedures for ultrasound as appropriate. Assists with ACR and ICAVL accreditation. Will also assist in general Ultrasound exams as needed.
Qualifications
A.S. degree from a two-year college based Ultrasound program. CPR certification required. Minimum of two years’ experience as an ultrasound technologist, with two years’ experience performing vascular examinations. Computer knowledge required. Must be RVT and RDMS certified.
