HOW A UX/UI DESIGNER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand user needs, business goals, and technical constraints to create intuitive and effective user experiences.
Design user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that translate complex requirements into simple and elegant design solutions.
Conduct user research, usability testing, and gather feedback to continuously improve the user experience and design process.
Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and UI components to ensure consistency across all digital platforms.
Work closely with developers to ensure seamless implementation of designs, providing detailed specifications, assets, and guidance.
Stay up to date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies to continuously innovate and improve our design practices.
Advocate for the end user by creating accessible, inclusive, and user-centered designs that deliver an exceptional user experience.
Present design concepts and solutions to stakeholders, incorporating feedback to refine and improve designs.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
5+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of digital products and user experiences.
Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar tools for creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups.
Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, best practices, and methodologies, including usability, accessibility, and responsive design.
Experience with user research methods, such as user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and A/B testing.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present and justify design decisions to stakeholders and team members.
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus, with the ability to work closely with developers to ensure design integrity during implementation.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with design systems and creating reusable UI components.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience designing for web, with a strong understanding of responsive and adaptive design principles.
Familiarity with Agile development processes and the ability to work in a cross-functional Agile team.
Understanding of front-end development and familiarity with tools like Zeplin, InVision, or Figma for design handoff.
Experience in creating accessible designs in compliance with 508 and WCAG standards and best practices.
Experience conducting workshops and brainstorming sessions to gather insights and drive design thinking.

The likely salary range for this position is $110,500 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

GDIT typically provides new employees with 15 days of paid leave per calendar year to be used for vacations, personal business, and illness and an additional 10 paid holidays per year. Paid leave and paid holidays are prorated based on the employee’s date of hire. The GDIT Paid Family Leave program provides a total of up to 160 hours of paid leave in a rolling 12 month period for eligible employees.
