  Essential Job Duties:

  Position Summary:

  In service of the University’s mission, the department works with units to support the development of digital programs and pedagogies, as well as other flexible and/or nontraditional learning experiences. We offer a variety of credit and professional education programs through our unit and also provide support for programs across the University. In support of these programs, we provide strategy, coordination, and services to meet program needs, including but not limited to marketing, recruitment, program/course design and development, conference and event planning and support, and student/participant support. Through our programs and services, this department extends access to education for participants across the state and beyond and enables campus units to expand, share, and collaborate through support for their own research and educational programs.

  The Instructional Technology Support Specialist reports to the Instructional Design Manager and works with content experts (faculty), instructional designers, content developers, and other members of the design team to facilitate technology-rich teaching and learning content, create new e-learning material, and build courses in the learning management system, Canvas.

  The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of working collaboratively with subject matter experts and various stakeholders; managing the demands of multiple projects and creatively handling resource and time conflicts. This role requires an in-depth understanding of e-learning software, digital accessibility, and design principles.

  Other Work/Responsibilities:

  Key responsibilities include:

  Assist in the development of multimedia and interactive content as needed for various programs.

  Work with other team members to plan, organize, implement, review, and deploy online learning modules for various programs and create new e-learning material based on the specifications of faculty and the design team.

  Translate the graphic design ideas and templates provided by the graphic designer into Canvas to create templates for various programs.

  Oversee testing of deployed material, addressing technical problems, and updating created content on a regular basis.

  Administer and optimize the learning management system ( LMS ) to ensure seamless course delivery and reporting and address any technical issues related to the LMS .

  Identify new technology or educational means to provide users with a seamless experience, including troubleshooting new features and ensuring sites are working correctly.

  This person will Keep up with emerging educational technologies, evaluate their effectiveness, and recommend adoption where appropriate.

  Provide training and support to educators and instructional designers on how to use various educational technologies effectively.

  This person will follow established processes, standards, and accessibility guidelines as applicable to the activities stated above.

  Required Qualifications:

  Required Skills/Qualifications:

  Bachelor’s degree in education, computer science, instructional technology, educational technology, or a related field.

  Experience with learning management system administration Canvas Learning Management System.

  Experience in Canvas LMS , Storyline, and Articulate Rise.

  Experience in use of Articulate Rise and Storyline, H5P, or similar e-learning software.

  Ability to navigate and understand new technologies and a strong grasp of various technologies, such as: VoiceThread, Poll Everywhere, Qualtrics, Teams Office 365, Zoom, Panopto, etc.

  Basic HTML experience and ability to edit out excessive code if needed.

  Familiarity with digital accessibility standards such as WCAG .

  Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.

  Proficient in the use of e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software and use of the Internet to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others.

  Ability to collect data, create reports, and prepare written communication with an attention to detail and accuracy.

  Knowledge of design, implementation, and evaluation of asynchronous & synchronous instructional strategies

  Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  Experience with post-production tasks including video and audio editing, effects, branding and file compression.

  Experience with online course quality assurance frameworks, such as Quality Matters.
