Unit Assembly
**Summary of the position:
Assemble various tight tolerance air end assemblies for delivery to internal and external customers. Air test and potentially function test product. Utilize assembly drawings, blueprints and work center instructions to ensure conformance to standards. Dial indicators, depth micrometers, standard micrometers, specialized tooling and other tools are employed within the process.
Duties and responsibilities:
Work independently or in a team setting to build high quality air ends for internal and OEM customers.Read, interpret and follow basic engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products.Use of hand tools, including air and battery powered drills, etc.Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standardsIdentify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified.Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes.[Safe material handling processes, including forklift driving and overhead crane operating]{#_Hlk45702318}.Maintain equipment and submit work orders as appropriate.Problem solve/root cause analysis.Engage in computer transactions related to processes that impact inventory control.Operate a fork truck or other powered industrial vehicle safely and efficiently.**Qualifications:
Education:**
High school or equivalent.Mechanical certifications are desirable.Professional experience:
3+ Years in tight tolerance assembly requiredMedium to expert experience in machine, automotive, marine, aerospace, assembly/maintenance/repair (examples given).Strong mathematical skills.Understandbasic engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures.Computer skills required (i.e., spreadsheets, data entry, email).Ability to use precision measurement device to work within tight tolerances.Key behaviors:
High energy and aptitude for mechanical work that may be repetitive and require a high level of focus on quality.Lifting up to 35 lbs.Lifting over 35 lbs. requires a lifting device, crane, or assistance from another associate.Standing and walking minimum of 8 hours.Must be able to bend/stoop, squat/crouch, kneel and twist.Working with cranes, sharp edges on machined parts, and moving parts by carts.Must understand and comply with Sullair Safety Standards.Participate in EHS quarterly audits, if required.Required to wear the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the work area.Required to attend scheduled toolbox and safety meetings.Must immediately report injuries or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.Ability to work flexible shifts and overtimeDirect reports:
