The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

The Underwriting Effectiveness Leader oversees and manages effectiveness of BL underwriting and operational plans across Business Lines including UW data accuracy, process, knowledge management, training, guidelines, standards, insights and transformation. Ensures key Business Lines underwriting initiatives and execution align with the overall strategic direction of Business Lines and US Retail Markets. This position reports to the SVP of Business Lines Field Underwriting.
Responsibilities: Set guidelines and influences strategy aimed at improving Business Lines Underwriting effectiveness and profitability. Oversees the successful implementation of underwriting practices within the segments. Drives quality of underwriter decision making through ownership of underwriting rules and standards and partnership with QA team to drive overall quality program. Oversees the design and streamlining of the underwriting process, leverages technology solutions to improve and/or support process performance. Responsible for BL underwriting standards, workflow, and underwriting scorecards Oversees the design and streamlining of the BL underwriting process. Executes UW effectiveness programs and strategies through change management and influence at all levels of the organization. Responsible for data accuracy identification, program design, and execution. Leads transformational efforts for underwriting organization. Qualifications Advanced knowledge of underwriting operations, processes, and tools; understanding of change management, knowledge management and project management concepts. Ability to exercise influence while working cross functionally and building relationships. Skills and competencies include project management, process mapping, strategic mindset, organizational agility, creative thinking, achievement-oriented, collaborative, highly adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, and ability to plan, organize and get work done through others. Experience with sales force and underwriting applications. Strong communication skills, including ability to successfully present business cases to executive leadership. 10+ years of experience in commercial insurance. About Us
