Position Summary:
Responsibility for producing new and renewal group business quotes through financial analysis of data in order to achieve operating income and membership growth goals. In this role, the individual will still be responsible for underwriting some portion of group business, along with maintaining/editing existing underwriting tools/systems.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in Related Field EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 1-3 yrs Underwriting experience And1-3 yrs Information Technology experience SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Must project a professional and competent demeanor, while interacting with a variety of personalities and cultures. Must be able to operate with PHI data in a compliant manner. Must demonstrate tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions. Should have strong communication and customer service skills.
Essential Functions:
Assist in the training of new Underwriters in addition to training current staff, Sales and Account Management on new Underwriting procedures, methodologies and underwriting system operation.
Consult with internal customers, brokers, and client groups regarding benefit, eligibility and premium option values.
Develop and negotiates rate proposals for prospective and renewal group clients consistent with corporate revenue, membership and expense goals. Work with outside vendors for pricing of self-funded stoploss proposals and develop price for administration of these accounts.
Assist Underwriting management in finalizing rate and benefit reccomendations for Senior Management.
Perform the audit process for new and renewal group information to ensure accuracy of premium/benefit set-up on internal systems.
Review new and renewal group proposals to determine compliance with contractual, statuatory and internal guidelines.
Maintain/edit existing underwriting tools/systems.
Consult with external vendor on underwriting systems, enhancements, and other misc processes.
Provides reporting to management on systems functionality and efficiency.
