Turbomachinery Aerodynamics Engineering Associate
Roles and Responsibilities:
Deliver innovative aerodynamic designs on our most challenging projects. Advanced aero design of flowpath components, impellers and vanes for high efficiency and maximum operating range.
Contribute to establishing strategy for the future of our aero design systems and aero processes. Successful candidate will be able to help direct strategy towards ensuring our designs cover a maximum range of applications for our products.
Collaborate in the Research and Development of new aero tools to improve the productivity and accuracy of aero calculations. This development effort could include collaboration with other aero engineers, simulation engineers and 3rd party commercial software teams.
Create and revise documentation related to design guidance and aerodynamic processes, establishing clear criteria on key aspects of the aerodynamic design process.
Mentor and share best practices including creation of work processes, procedures, job aids, and standards related to turbomachinery aerodynamic design and analysis.
Collaborate with product, proposals and process engineers. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment beginning with preliminary calculations during bid estimate phase, followed by refinement in calculations leading to finalization of equipment requirements.
Proficiently apply the appropriate fidelity of model, as required, including CFD, 2D/Quasi-3D methods, 1D calculations.
Continuously advocate as a team player for aerodynamic considerations while working well in a small team to ensure the overall system solution is optimized.
Contribute effectively in all phases of the equipment lifecycle, including equipment testing, field commissioning and startup, aftermarket and root cause analysis activities.
Promote safety and diversity consistent with the philosophies of Rotoflow.
Required Skills / Abilities:
Experience: 20+ years of turbomachinery aerodynamic design,
Experience: 1D, 2D, and 3D CFD aero tools.
Experience: Turbomachinery testing, data-matching of test results towards improving models
Programming skills: VB, C#, C+, Python, Matlab, Fortran or similar languages a plus,
Detail and results oriented, organized, creative, self-motivated, collaborative and customer focused,
Exemplify a real passion for excelling and helping others do their best work through sharing knowledge and expertise,
Excellent interpersonal skills (written, verbal and presentation),
Excellent analytical, creativity, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to learn quickly and contribute to fostering an environment of continuous learning, acting as a coach and mentor.
Excellent time management and leadership skills,
Ability and drive to continuously improve and eliminate unnecessary barriers or complexity to meeting customer needs,

Experience with Change Management and organizational transitions a plus.
Education and Licensing Requirements:
Technical Degree: BSME or related degree, advanced degree and focus on fluids, thermodynamics and turbomachinery design a plus,
