Tribal Attorney / Prosecutor needed just outside of Durango, Colorado. In this role you will be responsible for criminal prosecution as well as other Tribal legal needs. The first 90 days will be onsite; then it will be 3 days on site, 2 days remote/week. Position requires 2+ years of criminal law experience. A license to practice law in Colorado or the ability to waive in is required. Position includes excellent benefits, annual salary increase and a potential sign-on bonus. Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Legal Department Director, attorney will serve as a member of the Tribe's Legal Department, with principal responsibility for the effective, efficient, and fair prosecution of violations of the Tribal Code to include criminal, gaming, and wildlife cases. In addition, the attorney will represent the Tribe in other matters that require the Legal Department's attention, including code review and drafting, civil litigation, contract review, employment matters, and the consideration of social services cases. A strong command of Tribal jurisdiction, an understanding of tribal sovereignty, and an ability to provide accurate legal advice in a fast-paced environment is essential.
