This job was posted by https://www.azjobconnection.gov : For moreinformation, please see: https://www.azjobconnection.gov/jobs/6306443This position develops, implements and participates in trauma registrydata entry practices that ensure accurate data, timely data entry andtimely reports to meet criteria for Level I Trauma Center requirements.Is responsible for the daily collection and management of the traumaregistry database. Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary traumateam to support patient quality and performance improvement initiativesand to submit data to state and national entities. The primary role isthe collection, abstraction and entering of clinical data for all traumapatients admitted to or evaluated by the trauma service.
Essential Functions
For all seriously injured trauma victims, collects all requiredinformation, reviews multiple medical records, and abstracts basicpatient demographics, clinical procedures, clinical and diagnosticresults. Enters abstracts and data, maintains, retrieves, and analyzesrecords related to the trauma patient\'s history, diagnosis, therapy,and outcome.
Using scaling and scoring tools such as ICD-9-CM, Trauma Score, RevisedTrauma Score, Abbreviated Injury Score, Injury Severity Score, TRISS andthe Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) developed by the Association for theAdvancement of Automotive Medicine (AAAM), codes injuries and proceduresfor the database as required for clinical care, research, benchmarkingand accreditation; accurately codes each, using the AIS AbbreviatedInjury Scale, ICD-9 and CPT coding tools. Ensures the hospital remainscompliant with all standards as they relate to Joint Commission,American College of Surgeons, National Trauma Data Base and Adult LevelI accreditation.
Maintains the Trauma Registry database in compliance with stateregulations and certification requirements. Assists team withdocumentation and management of the registry database as it relates toclinical research, benchmarking and accreditation.
Develops and produces timely reports as requested by administrationand/or the American College of Surgeons for accreditation initiativesand re-verification.
Works as an integral part of the hospital and trauma quality andperformance improvement initiatives. As assigned, maintains agendas,schedules, minutes and integrates information from quality meetings andinitiatives into the registry.
