  OverviewABOUT THE POSITION

  Transportation/Traffic Engineer - Design | New York, NY

  VHB is seeking a Mid-Level Transportation/Traffic Engineer with approximately 5-8 years of design experience to join our vibrant and growing transportation consulting practice in our New York City office.

  Responsibilities:

  Develop, analyze and evaluate traffic improvements including traffic signals

  Design traffic control devicesDesign work zone traffic controlDevelop roadway and intersection designUse guidance within the MUTCD to prepare and oversee traffic signal warrant analysesAttend and lead meetings with transportation agencies and private developersPrepare and participate in presentations to the client team Prepare and review technical memoranda and reportsProject management or serve as a task leader on small to mid-size projectsSkills & Abilities:

  A strong background in traffic engineering, task management, and supervision of professional staff where applicableExcellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skillsStrong writing skills for proposals, technical reports and memorandaThe ability to balance multiple concurrent assignmentsThe ability to train, mentor and lead staff on a wide range of project assignmentsMicroStation and/or AutoCADOpen Roads and/or Civil3DFinal Design Plan DevelopmentQualifications:

  5-8 years of transportation/traffic design engineering experience required, depending on level of educationBachelor's degree in civil engineering required (master's degree may substitute for 1 year of experience)Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of New York or New Jersey expected (or the ability to obtain registration within six months)Experience with major agencies in New York state including NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NYCEDC, NYCT, PANYNJ, MTA-Bridges and Tunnels is preferredOur best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $92,000-120,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
