Transmission Siting and Permitting Project Manager – New York State
POWER is a rapidly growing company with a clear vision of how we want to grow. We are seeking aTransmission Siting and Permitting Project Manager in New York Statefor full-time employment. The successful candidate would be part of our Eastern Environmental Services ProjectManagement and Planning Department team, and would join a division of more than 400 environmental professionals across the U.S. This position will be based out of our Syracuse, NY office with an option to work remotely from within the Upstate New York area. Employees may travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings.
Roles and Responsibilities
The primary focus for thisTransmission Siting and Permitting Project Manager will be on electric transmission line and substation routing and siting, along with renewable energy development projects in New York and adjacent states.The ideal candidate will have an established and successful history of experience in the State of New York and will be a collaborative and responsive professional with strong communication and organizational skills. Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
Managing multiple projects at various stages and locations
Leading project teams for key clients
Leading business development efforts - develop/maintain client relationships and lead proposal preparation
Develop strategy for public involvement programs; attend and participate in open-houses, public meetings, and public hearings
Serving as a siting and environmental permitting subject matter expert
Managing and directing routing/siting studies, analyses and associated reports
Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams which could include engineers, attorneys, planners, permitting and environmental specialists, and real estate experts
Preparing and monitoring project scope, schedule, and budget
Supervising and mentoring staff
Up to 30% travel is expected
Required Education/Experience
BS or BA in Environmental Studies, Natural Sciences or Ecology, Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture, Geography, Environmental Science, or related degree
Ten (10) + years of experience managing environmental permitting and planning projects, for a variety of energy-related projects
Proven Article VII and EM&CP experience, including management of Article VII and EM&CP filings
Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with New York State agency personnel and decision-makers, including the NYSDEC
Demonstrated work experience with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District
Experience in preparing proposals and presentations, and price structuring
Strong written and verbal communication skills, defining and understanding client requirements, managing expectations, and communicating with clients and project staff
Preferred Education/Experience
Master’s degree in Environmental Studies, Natural Sciences or Ecology, Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture, Geography, Environmental Science, or related degree
Project Management Professional certification; other professional certifications as applicable to technical expertise
Contract negotiations and management
Experience preparing and providing expert witness testimony is preferred

Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $87K - $160K per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
