DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT:
The Transit Customer Service Representative – Full-Time is a non-exempt position under the general supervision of the Transit Operations Supervisor. The Transit Customer Service Representative ensures quality customer service and promotes a high degree of customer satisfaction related to Transit issues. Sells fare instruments and maintains a balanced daily cash drawer. Provides service instructions to Bus Operators. Serves as administrative support in a clerical capacity. Performs multiple tasks and duties as assigned.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Respond to inquiries from citizens and employees pertaining to general bus operation and update customers with information as needed
Prepare daily cash flow sheet, count, and deposit previous day's revenue
Prepare and assign survey trip sheets to operators
Prepare operator's daily schedules in accordance with contractual and regulatory restrictions
Collect survey and statistical data related to transit operations and input information into a computer database
Prepare transfers to be used on each route, count daily transfer usage per route and record figures on sheets
Type, file, and store various correspondence (memos, faxes, letters, etc.) as requested
Provide accurate information to citizens on bus routes, times, and transfers
Sell fare instruments and maintain a balanced daily cash drawer
Prepare bus line-up when required
Prepare daily payroll for operators (time sheet inputting and tracking)
Forward customer complaints/concerns to Manager
Maintain inventory of transit transfers, route maps and Citi-Lift brochures
Operates a land mobile radio station and telephone to receive, evaluate and transmit information to appropriate personnel
Contact the police and/or fire services on an as needed basis
Record and report road calls, buses malfunctions, service disruptions, employee attendance and forward information to the appropriate personnel
Perform other duties as assigned
Must be able to prioritize assigned duties and meet deadlines. Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical standards an employee must meet in order to perform the essential job duties with or without a reasonable accommodation include, but are not limited to:
Must have ability to lift and move files and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds. Work is sedentary and done in a seated position, but requires frequent moving about, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, or stooping to perform filing. Position requires the ability to input large amounts of data using repetitive motion on a frequent and prolonged basis. The incumbent must be able to hear all communication from customers and employees by telephone or in person, and use vision to work with written documents, forms, and to respond to employees and customers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
The Transit Customer Service Representative – Full-Time shall possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Ability to interface in a friendly manner with all types of customers and co-workers is required.
Ability to meet deadlines
Skills in organizational processes and good decision-making
Knowledge and skills in oral and written communication
Knowledge of company policies and procedures, city street locations, bus routes, times, and stops and ten codes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above the position requires:
High School diploma or GED
Cash-handling, typing, and computer experience
At least one year’s experience in customer service or dispatch operations
General working knowledge of radio communication systems and proficiency in Excel is preferred
A valid driver’s license at the time of application, and a valid Colorado driver’s license within 30 days of employment
License restrictions that may hinder your ability to drive on City business, such as an interlock, will be cause for disqualification
During the course of employment, a valid license must be maintained, and the employee must notify the City immediately upon changes to the status of their license
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
All required licenses and certifications must be maintained throughout the term of employment. Failure to obtain or maintain licenses and certifications may result in demotion or termination.
Due to Federal and State Criminal Justice System access requirements, classifications that access and maintain criminal justice information may also be requires, as a condition of employment, to not have been convicted of and/or have pending charges of a felony or misdemeanor crime that would deny or otherwise restrict access to criminal justice information. This requirement applies to all existing City employees as well as external candidates seeking to fill positions that meet the given criteria.
