About Training Technician III - Education and Training Coordinator

  Job Description

  The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is seeking a dynamic Education and Training Coordinator to assess non-clinical training and education needs, evaluate training and education results, and recommend changes to the Education and Training Leader. In this role, you will consult with technical and professional subject matter experts on the planning and implementation of education and training programs, and collaborate with the Quality Management Department to ensure training and education materials meet regulatory and Joint Commission requirements. You will also participate in planning, developing, and conducting non-clinical education and training programs utilizing adult learning theories and principles.

  The schedule for this position is 37.5 hours per week, 7:30am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.

  Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  • Assess training needs of employees by reviewing current training programs, regulatory requirements, and department leadership feedback, for effectiveness and long-term goals and plans.

  • Develop and oversee the tracking of orientation and ongoing education and training programs by working with EOHHS HR and department leadership to identify new hires, including organic staff, contracted staff, agency staff, and vendors.

  • Provide training for staff in the methods and techniques of teaching.

  • Supervise the Non-Clinical Educators. Assign tasks, and reviews performance.

  • Provide non-clinical orientation, ongoing education, and training to all staff.

  • Monitor onboarding process, working with the departmental leaders, to complete the probationary forms.

  • Develop correspondence, brochures, flyers, certificates, power point presentations, etc., for staff and leadership, as directed by the Education and Training Leader.

  • Develop and conduct tracer methodology for Joint Commission Regulatory compliance with education and training.

  • Act as facility coordinator for MassAchieve, including uploading trainings and education.

  • Develop regular reporting to the executive team on facility-wide training compliance.

  • Coordinate speakers and training materials for orientation, on-going education, training classes, and/or computer learning (e.g., MassAchieve).

  • Review Compliance Reports for education and trainings on a regular basis and notifies departmental leaders of staff who have or have not completed trainings (e.g., MassAchieve, spreadsheets, etc.).

  • Oversee training and event calendars and will back-up the Education and Training Office Support Specialist, as needed.

  • Develop non-clinical, role-specific, orientation and competencies with subject matter experts.

  • Participate in department committee, and other meetings relative to staff education and training.

  • Provide collaboration in the formation of relevant policies and procedures with hospital leadership.

  • Ensure educational records and competencies for all staff are compliant with Education and Training Department procedures.

  • Promote educational opportunities and schedules, including signage, postings on the electronic communication boards, emails, and electronic learning system software.

  Tewksbury Hospital operates a 375-bed facility and a campus of over 700 acres of land. Its patient care services are provided under the auspices of the Department of Public Health and Mental Health. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the administration of a Joint Commission accredited LTAC hospital that provides high quality, comprehensive treatment, care, and comfort to adults with chronic medical and mental illness. A full range of services are provided including 24/7 Nursing, Nurse Practitioners, Medicine as well as psychiatric and psychological services, a 6-chair dialysis suite, clinical laboratory, radiology, respiratory care, nutrition, speech/language, pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, therapeutic recreation and arts, and pharmacy.   Qualifications

  First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.

  MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  Applicants must have (A) at least four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in teaching, instructing or training work which included the planning, development or implementation of educational or employee training programs as a major duty, (B) of which at least one year must have been in an administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

  I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in education may be substituted for maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.

  II. A Graduate degree with a major in education may be substituted for three years of the required (A) experience.

  NOTE: Educational substitutions will only be permitted for a maximum of three years of the required (A) experience. No substitutions will be permitted for the required (B) experience.

  Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the based of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
