The Department of Developmental Services (DDS), at the Wrentham Developmental Center is searching for a compassionate, enthusiastic professional for the role of Training Technician II who is eager to train and assist individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities, agency staff and Family /Guardians to improve their quality of life through training.This position will hold a key role in implementation of the State's mandatory training in Mass Achieve.
The role of the Training Technician II is to design, develop, conduct and evaluate training and orientation programs for the Wrentham Developmental Center. Assess training needs and evaluate program results and consult with technical and professional staff on the planning and implementation of training programs. Trainings will be conducted onsite. Ensure all mandated trainings are completed in the required time frame and documentation is completed. Trainings conducted include, but are not limited to, Standard Precautions, New Hire Employee Orientation, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation(CPR) CPR/First Aid, Mandatory Trainings, Positive Behavioral Supports, Person Centered Planning and other trainings as needed.
This position must be PABC (Proactive Approaches to Behavioral Challenges) certified or become certified at the level required to provide employees with PABC training within 6 months of being hired.
Job Responsibilities: (The duties and responsibilities stated are general summary and not all inclusive)
Provide, coordinate, and develop training for WDC staff, and volunteers. Develop and revise training content so all trainings reflect current DDS practices and support the agency and Department mission and long-term goals. Coordinate all CPR, First Aid and Obstructed Airway trainings for the facility. Maintain certification as appropriate.Collaborate with all WDC Departments and Unit Training Liaisons to identify and address training needs for staff.Ensure all Mandated trainings are completed in the appropriate time frame and documentation is filed and complete as required.Secure private vendors as needed for additional trainings.Work directly with Safety Program Consultants for consultation and advice issue Heart Saver/Provider Certification cards and ensure the payment process is completed. Conduct trainings directly related to the enhancement of skills for all Direct Support Staff.Participate in workgroups and committees that review regulations, policies, changes, and initiatives.Develop and revise training content to ensure that all trainings reflect current DDS practice and support the agency and Department's mission and long-term goals.Participate in agency strategic planning days; takes the leading organizing, planning, and facilitating trainings across the agency.Attend trainings, workshops, and conferences to remain current in knowledge and practice related to work assignment.Prepare manuals, handbooks, brochures for training or reference purposes.Analyze survey information to determine effectiveness of trainings.Chair the Training Liaison committee meetings or group discussions regarding training programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disability.Experience in training methods and techniques such as OJT, vestibule, lecture, workshops, conferences, case study, role playing, program instructed, sensitivity or T-group demonstration, simulation and gamesAbility to supervise, plan and assign work according to the nature of the job to be accomplished, the capabilities of subordinates and available resources.Capacity to develop, implement and monitor curriculum for the facility training needs.Competence to prepare presentation materials and make effective presentations.Knowledge of the types and availability of public and private organizations and resources for providing training opportunities.At least 1 year teaching or training experience.Knowledge of and experience with Individual Service Plans
(ISP's) and Positive Behavioral Supports (PBS's). Experience working with Committees and Families.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Special Requirements:
Knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, specifications, standards, and guidelines governing assigned unit activities.Skilled in operating audio-visual equipment such as projectors, tape recorders, etc.Understand the principles and practices of training curriculum development and training needs assessment and evaluation techniques.
Agency Requirements:
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.Must possess current and valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
Schedule Information:
Full-time - 40-hour weekly position
Schedule - Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Days off - Sunday and Saturday
Please note: The work location for this position is Wrentham, MA.
Flexibility with work schedule will be required for this position.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS :
Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in teaching, instructing or training work which included the planning, development or implementation of educational or employee training programs as a major duty, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in education may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience
II. A Graduate degree with a major in education may be substituted for the required experience.
Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
