Job Description
The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Central/West (CW) State-Operated Community Services is seeking qualified candidates for the Training Technician II position. This position will hold a key role in the development and implementation of the State Operated system's training program. This position, in conjunction with the Training Coordinator, will be responsible for the development, coordination, and provision of trainings and orientation programs for CW employees and volunteers.
This position will also be tasked with assessing training needs in collaboration with the Director of Central West State Operated Community Services, the State Op. Directors, and the Training Coordinator. This position may also work with the Regional Training Department on curriculum development. The Training Technician will be responsible for ensuring that all mandated trainings are completed within the appropriate timeframe and documentation is completed and filed as required. This position must be PABC (Proactive Approaches to Behavioral Challenges) certified or become certified at the level required to provide employees with PABC training. This position will also need to have or receive instructor-level certification to provide CPR/First Aid training for new employees and for recertification requirements.
The Training Technician will provide content specific trainings for New Employee Orientation. This position will receive training in fit testing N95 respirators and will provide such testing to meet annual agency requirements. It is also an expectation that this position will have or gain knowledge necessary to train and assist staff in the state operated homes in the use of computers and applicable systems such as email, online trainings, self-service time and attendance, and more. This position will be supervised by the Training Coordinator for CW State-Operated Community Services.
Please Note:
This position is located in Springfield, MA. This position will be required to travel throughout the Central/West Region, as needed, and will have hotel work-space available in Templeton (TCS), Worcester (CRS) and Northampton (CCS).
Schedule: This is a full-time, 37.5 hour per week position working Monday through Friday: 9:00am - 5:00pm.
Days Off: Sunday/Saturday
Some flexibility may be required to meet the needs of the program.

Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in teaching, instructing or training work which included the planning, development or implementation of educational or employee training programs as a major duty, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in education may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience
II. A Graduate degree with a major in education may be substituted for the required experience.
Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
