The Tool and Die Maker will support 2nd shift while the individual develops tooling requirements based on production needs and provides component design direction and support for current and potential projects/programs involving complex tolerances. Designs, reviews, tests, and maintains manufacturing processes. Investigates and resolves manufacturing-related issues. Develops, constructs, and alters a wide variety of jigs, fixtures, and gauges. Sharing the knowledge and partnering with other tool makers to train apprentices.
The successful candidate will be able to analyze and understand specifications and tolerances; set up and operate machine tools; study blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualize end-product. Works as a team and independently, handling projects deemed necessary.
This position will construct and maintain dies and tooling while supporting other Departments with Tool Room knowledge.
Setup and operate all conventional Tool Room equipment.
Repair and maintain complicated dies and construct new tooling.
Maintain inventory of production tooling that is in tool-room. This includes checking in tooling received from vendors and tooling returned from the manufacturing floor.
Maintain organization and cleanliness.
Assist Manufacturing departments and Engineering with tool design and suggestions.
Satisfy quality improvement issues.
Use good safety measures and housekeeping practices.
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Machine Tooling degree or certificate desired.
Must have a minimum of five years of experience working with precision machining such as surface grinders, lathes, and arbor presses.
Basic reading/writing skills and math including fractions and decimals is required.
Mechanical ability and knowledge of tools and machinery is required.
Some computer skills (MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Windows based software).
Good communciation skills.
Ability to left/pull up to forty (40) pounds.
