GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a Photogrammetry & Surveys Specialist II located in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Under limited supervision, this position will perform various tasks related to the establishment of geodetic control, field collection of survey data, setting concrete survey monuments, traffic control, editing and processing survey data, and other miscellaneous tasks to provide a safe, high-quality, and efficient transportation system for the State of Wyoming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
Operates GPS/RTK survey equipment to establish horizontal and vertical coordinates for project control monuments and photo control targets
Operates a leveling rod or digital level instrument for collecting level control data
Operates a total robotic station or GPS/RTK equipment for topography collection
Collects terrestrial LiDAR topography data
Sets up and maintains traffic control devices
Sets concrete survey monuments and places aerial control targets
Performs minor surveying computations such as slopes, areas, volumes, cuts, fills, etc.
Edits and adjusts preliminary survey data using surveying software
Communicates between other crew members and with supervisor on project progress and when issues arise
Attends or leads safety briefings on project-specific topics
Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to applicants with 3-4 years of progressive work experience with acquired knowledge at the level of a Photogrammetry and Survey Specialist I.
**Must have the ability to obtain a Valid Driver's License.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of principles and practices of geodetic surveying
Ability to operate surveying equipment such as digital levels, total optical stations, GPS receivers, and terrestrial scanners
Knowledge of Windows operating systems and MicroStation/Geopak CADD software
Knowledge of Leica or Trimble post-processing software
Ability to work independently and use sound judgment while collecting survey data
Ability to communicate in an effective manner using verbal and written skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Engineering)
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Photogrammetry and Survey) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Photogrammetry and Survey Specialist I
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Photogrammetry and Survey) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Photogrammetry and Survey Specialist I

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds
This position requires working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Will work in close proximity to high-speed traffic
Will work on uneven terrain while carrying equipment or supplies
Extensive overnight statewide travel is required
The position will require overtime on a regular basis
