This role is responsible for identifying, recruiting, managing, and delivering impact for strategic book publishers, retailers, and authors while continuously improving the books user experience and driving category profitability & growth. Top candidates will possess strong merchant management and negotiation skills, deep analytical know-how, sharp business judgment, life-long learning capabilities, and a passion for enriching the lives of our users by providing quality goods at their fingertips.
The UK Book team manages top tier and indie publishers and as well as large, medium and small book retailers across the industry. The focus of the team is onboarding and scaling publishers and retailers to ensure an increasing range of books for our creators and customers through a targeted and systematic merchant onboarding process.
Responsibilities:
- Merchant/merchandise strategy & operations: Oversee creation and implementation of sub-category growth strategy, marketing, merchant management, and user/merchandise operations.
- Onboard key players in the UK book publishing/distribution landscape to TikTok Shop.
- Deliver growth strategies at merchant level by delivering diverse selection via attractive content (livestreams & short videos) at competitive prices with smooth delivery.
- Build strong and sustainable relationships at a high level with key authors, publishers, and retailers. Drive category revenue & profit growth by implementing creative partnerships.
- Achieve category incremental GMV & profit gains through close collaboration with and participation in TikTok Shop Campaigns.
- Work with the Data Science Team to keep close watch over category data performance and adjust strategy & action according data analytics feedback.
- Work with the Product & Development Team to automate category ops processes and improve daily work efficiency.
- Communicate frequently with key stakeholder teams (Creator, Campaign, Logistics, Marketing etc.) to align goals & actions for maximum results.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Demonstrable experience operating autonomously in books category account management at an e-commerce platform, large retailer, or publisher side.
- Deep knowledge of & relationships/resources within the UK books landscape (with authors, publishers, distributors, retailers).
- Experience in negotiations and executing deals & partnerships.
- Highly analytical and data-driven mindset.
- Ability to synthesize and react to information in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
- Understanding and experience using social media platforms, especially TikTok.
- UK market experience required
