  Who We Are

Research and Innovation (RI), led by the Vice President for Research and Innovation (VPRI), enables, and advances the University's research priorities as well as research activities of Cornell colleges, schools, and research centers, institutes, and laboratories.

The Office of Research Integrity and Assurance (ORIA) supports the Cornell research community by providing guidance on research integrity and responsible conduct of research (RCR). ORIA oversees research compliance programs for all aspects of RCR in research integrity, financial conflicts of interest related to research, export and import controls, research with live vertebrate animals, human participants, and regulated biological materials.

  What You Will Do

The Temporary IBC Administrator is a member of the professional team supporting the Cornell Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). The Administrator provides expert guidance to researchers and committee members regarding regulatory and policy requirements for the use of recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules(r/sNA) or other biohazardous materials. In conjunction with other members of the IBC team, they will assist in the management of the IBC meetings. Additional duties include participating in the review and approval process for Memorandum of Understanding and Agreement (MUA) applications and amendment proposals including performing a thorough review of incoming MUAs, coordinating IBC member reviews, and finalizing approval requirements. They assign the required IBC training for individuals named on MUAs. They assist in the development and review of internal and external reports related to the IBC. The Administrator troubleshoots and resolves issues within the protocol management system, and will contribute to the testing, training and implementation of new research administration software. They will interface with the IACUC and IRB when r/sNA or biohazardous materials are used in animal and human research protocols, and conduct protocol to MUA comparisons when IACUC and IBC are involved, to ensure regulatory compliance requirements are met. The Administrator serves as a backup to senior IBC and ORIA staff members, as needed, and will perform other duties as assigned.
