Job Description
The Department of Landscape Architecture has an immediate opening for a Maker Space Coordinator. The Maker Space includes a CNC mill, laser cutters, and 3D printers. As a leader of the technical support team, you will cultivate a climate of academic exploration, creativity, and innovation within the context of a safe, well-organized, clean, and well-maintained Maker Space. You will provide support and training to student technical assistants and oversee operations and maintenance of the space.
This is a part-time benefits-eligible (approximately 30 hours per week), fully on-site position with an anticipated end date of a 6 month term with possibility to extend through December 31, 2024. The position may be extended past this date based on job performance as well as approval and funding availability.
Key Responsibilities
Develop an Operations, Safety, and Maintenance ManualImplement a scheduling system for use of the equipment for the studentsSchedule and support student technical assistants, including approving time cardsTrain student technical assistants in machine operations and safetyOperate the CNC mill, laser cutters, and 3d printersPerform housekeeping, tool restocking, and machine maintenance on all equipment
Requirements
High school diploma plus up to two years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experienceKnowledge of CAD to CAM software and output files for 3D printing and CNC routingDigital 3D modeling skills, specifically Rhinoceros 3DAbility to interact with faculty and students from diverse backgroundsKnowledge of a variety of shop tools and equipment, including operations and safetyAbility to work in a dynamic setting with changing prioritiesClear communicator and team playerAttention to detail, high degree of concentration and hand/eye coordination
Salary:
CALS hiring range for this position is $23.58 to $27.25 per hour based on education/experience
