General Summary:
Qualcomm Technologies Inc., has an immediate opening for a talented and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our dynamic GPU Program Management Office team and play a crucial role in documenting graphics technology.
As a Technical Writer specializing in graphics, you will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation that educates users, developers, and stakeholders on various aspects of graphics technology. This role requires a deep understanding of graphics concepts, hardware, and software, as well as the ability to communicate complex technical information in a user-friendly manner.
The successful candidate will support the GPU PMO, Engineering and Product Management teams in managing overall GPU organization Technical Documentation, methodologies and processes (Customer, internal, tools, SOPs and training documentation) through creating clear, accurate, and concise technical content by leveraging knowledge of technical writing principles, resources, and tools. Edits, updates, and reviews content based on an understanding of project requirements to meet business goals and customer needs, in collaboration with other teams (e.g., Engineering, Business). Ensures technical content is standardized for ease of use by stakeholders and innovates on technical documentation creation process to align with industry standards and best practices.
What You will be doing
Creates clear, accurate, and concise technical content by leveraging knowledge of technical writing principles, resources, tools and various types of Qualcomm processes, products, and technologies.
Edits, updates, and reviews various types of complex content based on an advanced understanding of reusable content and project requirements to meet team content goals and customer needs.
Ability to create technical diagrams to illustrate structure and mechanism.
Identifies errors in technical content and makes suggestions for improvements to stakeholders. Identifies changes to technical content, and flags to team.
Gathers, analyzes, and leverages internal and external customer feedback to identify corrective actions that enhance document quality and customer usability.
Formats, publishes, and/or organizes technical content in a pre-defined structure or template to ensure document standardization, and to meet overall Qualcomm quality standards.
Incorporates and adapts to new tools, processes, and standards to increase efficiency and/or automate, keep up with industry standards and trends (e.g., online information delivery), increase content quality, and enhance document searchability.
Provides suggestions for how to present technical content in an innovative way to increase customer usability. Provides suggestions to PMO/Engineering teams to model new approaches to content.
Collaborates with team and other stakeholders to complete project work for technical content.
Manages individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
Adapts to significant changes and setbacks in order to manage pressure and meet deadlines.
Responsibilities:
Content Development:
Develop and maintain technical documentation for graphics technology, including user manuals, API documentation, technical specifications, and developer guides.
Collaborate with subject matter experts, software engineers, and product managers to gather information and ensure accuracy in the documentation.
Graphics Concepts Mastery:
Demonstrate a strong understanding of graphics concepts, rendering pipelines, shaders, and other relevant technologies to produce high-quality, informative content.
Stay updated on the latest developments in graphics technology and integrate this knowledge into documentation.
User-Focused Communication:
Tailor documentation for diverse audiences, including end-users, developers, and other stakeholders.
Ensure that documentation is accessible, easy to follow, and addresses the needs of both novice and experienced users.
Visual Elements Integration:
Work closely with graphic designers and illustrators to incorporate visual elements such as diagrams, screenshots, and graphics to enhance the clarity of the documentation.Documentation Lifecycle Management:
Manage the complete documentation lifecycle, from initial drafts through revisions and updates, ensuring that all documents are up-to-date and reflect the latest software and hardware features.Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, attending meetings and gathering information to create accurate and relevant documentation.
Communicate technical information clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Communications, English, or related field and 6+ years of experience writing and editing software and/or hardware documentation and content, or related work experience.
OR
Associate's degree and 8+ years of writing and editing software and/or hardware documentation and content, or related work experience.
OR
High School diploma or equivalent and 10+ years of writing and editing software and/or hardware documentation and content, or related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
6+ years of experience writing and editing software and/or hardware documentation and content.
Quality, detailed oriented, organized, teamwork and passion for documentation.
Exceptional audience analysis, written and verbal communication, and problem solving.
Technical knowledge of processing cores (GPU, CPU, etc..).
Knowledge of technical writing software tools
2+ years of experience with programming (e.g., C, C++, HTML), computer architecture or systems.
Basic knowledge with git/github, VSCode and asciidoc
Expert in Office document software and tools
Experience in Agile Product Lifecycle Management (PML) system

Pay range:
$49.90 - $74.86
The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
