POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATIONThe Technical Support Specialist/Sr. Technical Support Specialist positionis a progressively responsible, high-level position in the InformationTechnology Department that is responsible for providing systems management andintegration for personal computers, laptops, mobile devices and supportedapplications running in a Microsoft Windows Server and LAN/WAN environment.This position may require some evening and weekend hours. Work is performedindependently and under the supervision of the IT Systems Supervisor.
Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and CertificationsRequired:
Previous experience in Information Technology performing support forcomputers, laptops and mobile devices in a LAN environmentExperience with Windows XP Professional and 7, Microsoft Office 2007, 2010or 2013 and other third party applicationsPossess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving recordthroughout employmentFormal education or training related to one or more of the following:Windows server, Windows desktop, or other Microsoft technologiesAssociates degree or greater in Computer Science or related fieldMust possess or complete the following within six months of employment, andmaintain current certification throughout employment:A+ CompTIA CertificationDell Hardware PC Support Certification
Progression from the Technical Support Specialist position to the SeniorTechnical Support Specialist position typically requires that the employeemeets all of the requirements of the Technical Support Specialist position aslisted above and has three (3) or more years of experience successfullyperforming Technical Support Specialist duties (at the City of Westminsteror through previous comparable employment).
Preferred:Three or more years of professional work experience in Information Technologyperforming support for computers, laptops, and mobile devices in a LANenvironmentAny equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, whichwould provide the required knowledge and skills, may be consideredBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
