Position Summary
The Sample Prep Technical Specialist will concentrate on growing our automated Sample Prep business across infectious disease, oncology, and other relevant life science research applications. They will be responsible for enhancing customer satisfaction, building customer relationships and selling the company’s products and services to key accounts performing life science / research testing. They are responsible for ensuring commercial engagement across all channels and affiliative teams and businesses to execute the Sample Prep Marketing and Sales vision. They will serve as the primary technical expert during pre- and post-sales activities with our customers, demonstrating strong partnership and alignment with business development and commercial teams.
Responsibilities:
5 years of customer-facing experience, which includes providing technical and scientific presentations, with a well-developed network of customer contacts in both Academia and Industry. Sales preferred.
Develop and manage an annual Territory Plan and quarterly business plans to meet or exceed financial goals to be shared across our selling matrix. Utilize product and application knowledge to successfully apply consultative and strategic selling presentations.
Understand customer goals, priorities and challenges to provide solutions best positioned to address customer needs.
Focus on high growth areas and markets, key applications to drive open array-based projects into new emerging markets.
Consistently and accurately manage sales process including sales forecasting, pipeline management and sales tracking through the use of Salesforce.com and other designated IT tools.
Assess sales team training needs and provide market feedback and product development input to internal business partners.
Demonstrate advanced uses of Sample Prep products and serve as a thought leader and expert internally and externally to recommend technical applications.
Must also be capable of developing strong internal networks within supply chain, global product manufacturing, custom product development teams, and the technical / customer support organization
Consult with customers on product evaluations, optimization and troubleshooting.
Qualifications:
BS in Biology, Microbiology or Biochemistry or related scientific field. Masters / PhD is preferred.
5 plus years of customer-facing sales experience, which includes providing technical and scientific presentations, with a well-developed network of customer contacts in both Academia and Industry.
Accomplished sales skills and can speak to competitive technologies and downstream applications, demonstrate value as a supporting partner in the pre-sales process, while also independently driving sales throughout all stages of the sales process
Ability to demonstrate a customer-centric mindset and ability to understand markets, trends and competitors.
Articulates value by linking solutions to key customer challenges and opportunities, comfortable influencing and negotiating.
Minimum of 50% travel expected by car, train & airplane.
Must have scientific consulting acumen -demonstrates extensive knowledge of sample prep technologies and related downstream applications.
Demonstrated success working in a team-based collaborative environment
Ability to work independently, analyze data, and troubleshoot
Ability to build relationships, interact and communicate information with individuals in other functional areas and with key strategic accounts or business partners

Strong written and verbal presentation skills
Field based role, Must live within geography (GA, FL, NC, SC, Virginia)
Work Conditions
Most duties are performed at field locations which may require walking within customer facilities, standing while giving presentations or conducting meetings and sitting to complete reports and sales calls.
Demonstrations may require moving equipment and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
