About Technical Program Manager, EMail, Enterprise Engineering

  Description

The Amazon Enterprise Engineering team owns the globally scaled, innovative collaboration solutions that support Amazonians around the globe. Our systems include Amazon’s Tier 1 AWS-based email infrastructure from perimeter to mailbox. By delivering billions of legitimate emails and blocking billions of dangerous messages each year, our team provides the cornerstone that enables every element of Amazon’s business.

In addition to serving Amazonian end-users, we work closely with AWS external product teams to build new solutions and to push the boundaries of performance, scalability, and security. For this Arlington Virginia-based role, we need a technical program manager that will work across multiple technical teams, so you must have a strong history of large scale, cross-organizational project delivery.

Your innovation will be key to Amazon's success as we work directly with AWS product teams to envision the next generation of email at Amazon.

  Key job responsibilities

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM), you will be responsible for driving and delivering multiple complex projects simultaneously. In this role, you will provide project leadership, anticipate bottlenecks, mitigate project risks, quantify the impact of making tradeoffs, and balance business needs against technical constraints. You will provide technical leadership that gets software applications built and integrated into the AWS ecosystem. You will work closely with stakeholders across various design, software and business teams to identify and drive innovative solutions that achieve business goals and align with long-term product roadmaps.

Our ideal candidate will have a strong PM/TPM background, with demonstrated experience leading cross-organizational technical program management projects, and will have a deep technical background in building platforms leveraged by many.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

  Arlington, VA, USA

  Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent

5+ years of technical product or program management experience

5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

3+ years of analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentations experience

3+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

Experience with roadmap strategy and definition

Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Experience with MS Project, MS Office, and MS Sharepoint

Experience working in highly scaled enterprise environments

  Preferred Qualifications

Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design

  Experience in system design

Experience with email and messaging systems, such as Microsoft Office 365, Exchange Online, Exchange 2019/2016, or PostFix
