Job Description
The Technical Operations Director is responsible for the full annual and long term ship planning process as well as the overall technical operations strategy. The Director is also responsible for communicating ship or personnel information with the SVP of Technical Operations and relevant stakeholders in order to ensure environmental, regulation and technical compliance. As a leader for the Technical Operations group the Technical Operations Director is accountable for the development and management of the team.
Essential Functions:
Develop, manage and lead assigned personnel and ensure team compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and internal operating guidelines
Provide VP Compliance, Environmental & Occupational Safety, VP Technical Operations, Environmental Officer with any information received during the course of ordinary duties relating to environmental compliance issues and incidents
Develop technical operations strategy to ensure successful operations of ship involving all technical matters
Provide guidelines and vision for long term plan and budget process
Assess and document the performance of assigned personnel in accordance with KPIs
Monitor performance of assigned ships and ensure they are receiving the appropriate level of shoreside support
Ensure efficient and economic operation of assigned ship's maintenance by providing oversight of general technical maintenance and monitoring conformance of assigned ships to their approved budgets
Responsible to review plans for outstanding Condition of Class (CoC), Statutory Deficiencies (SD), Actionable Items (AI) on a monthly basis with their TOMs to ensure items are dealt with appropriately and in due time.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or related field
10-15 years of experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have knowledge of mechanical systems, hotel equipment operations and functions. Experience with cruise ship industry or passenger ship operations. Good knowledge of information, operational and management systems. Strong communication, inter-personnel management & coordination skills. Extensive technical and/or Marine Engineering know-how.Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
Travel: No or very little travel likely
Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
The range for this role’s base salary is $120,800 - $172,000. Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.

Holidays – All full-time and part-time with benefits employees receive days off for 7 company-wide holidays, plus an additional floating holiday to be taken at the employee’s discretion.
Vacation Time – All full-time employees at the manager and below level start with 14 days/year; director and above level start with 19 days/year. Part-time with benefits employees receive time off based on the number of hours they work, with a minimum of 84 hours/year. All employees gain additional vacation time with further tenure.
Sick Time – All full-time employees receive 80 hours of sick time each year. Part-time with benefits employees receive time off based on the number of hours they work, with a minimum of 60 hours each year.
