The Center on Child Wellbeing and Trauma (CCWT), a division of the Office of the Child Advocate, supports child-serving organizations and systems in Massachusetts in becoming trauma-informed and responsive through trainings, technical assistance, communities of practice, and coaching.

About the OCA
The Office of the Child Advocate (OCA) is an independent executive branch agency with oversight and ombudsperson responsibilities, established by the Massachusetts Legislature in 2008. The OCA's mission is to ensure that children receive appropriate, timely and quality state services, with a particular focus on ensuring that the Commonwealth's most vulnerable and at-risk children can thrive. Through collaboration with public and private stakeholders, the OCA identifies gaps in state services and recommends improvements in policy, practice, regulation and/or law. The OCA also serves as a resource for families who are receiving, or are eligible to receive, services from the Commonwealth.

Purpose of the Job
Under the general direction of the Technical Assistance Manager, the Technical Assistance Specialist II provides client management, curriculum design oversight, and technical assistance and coaching to support organizations through the process of becoming more Trauma Informed and Responsive. This role offers consultation, training, coaching, and implementation support tailored to address the specific gaps and requirements identified through individualized assessments.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Aids in the development of training and coaching curriculum and plays a key role in its implementation across various sectors. This includes providing support for and facilitating professional learning communities.
• Utilizes trauma-informed assessment tools to inform work with organizations to identify gaps and provide best practice solutions to support organizational change efforts and increase trauma responsive polices, protocols and practices.
• Supports the coordination of all assessment activities.
• As organizations progress through the assessment process, the technical assistance specialist helps to identify their goals and assist in preparing implementation plans toward becoming more trauma informed and responsive.
• Supports the completion of all assessments in a timely manner including implementing appropriate feedback, coaching, and training to improve outcomes.
• Assists with ongoing evaluation, planning and implementation of Center assessment methodologies and practices.
• Assists in coordinating training and educational initiatives that enhance knowledge and promote the transition towards organizations becoming more trauma-informed and responsive.
• Works collaboratively as part of a team to successfully achieve established objectives and deliverables within respective timelines.

Qualifications
Experience managing diverse teams,
• Ability to work with and manage the use of external consultants.
• Knowledge of childhood trauma/ACES/positive childhood experiences and resilience
• Ability to make persuasive presentations to various interdisciplinary audiences.
• Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and/or other software.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Applicants must have (A) A bachelor's degree from an accredited institute of higher education in public policy, human services, or social work. (B) Three (3) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, supervisory or managerial experience in public policy, human services, or social work, of which (C) at least one (1) year must have been in a project management, supervisory or managerial capacity or (D) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.

I. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) years of the required (B) experience.
