Job Purpose
Tech lead engineer, data and AI operations (24 months Secondment), Clinical & Portfolio Solutions, R&D Tech
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Engineer to join our dynamic team as the driving force behind our Data and AI Operations. As the Lead Engineer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the development, implementation, and optimization of our data and artificial intelligence systems. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the seamless operation of data pipelines, machine learning models, and analytics platforms.
Your role will be more specifically to Build, deploy and maintain one or more R&D enterprise Biological Sample Management System(s) in close partnership with R&D business and Clinical stakeholders, by promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement to ensure best practice in the delivery R&D and R&D objectives while meeting regulatory expectations and Internal Control Framework requirements, and to allow fit-for-purpose management for R&D, including proposals for implementation of adapted or new technologies in alignment with Vx and R&D eHBSM objectives.

Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a strategic vision for data and AI operations aligned with business objectives.Collaborate with cross-functional teams and align solutions to the eHBSM roadmap, working closely with Enterprise Architecture and solution team. Data Architecture and Engineering :Design, implement, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines for collecting, processing, and analyzing large volumes of data.Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to ensure data availability and quality for modelling and analysis. AI Model Deployment and Management: Lead the deployment and management of machine learning models into production environments.Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the health and performance of AI models. Infrastructure and Operations: Oversee the infrastructure supporting data and AI operations, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.Collaborate with IT teams to implement and manage cloud-based solutions for data storage and processing. Team Leadership and Collaboration: Lead a team of engineers and data scientists, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.Mentor team members, conduct performance reviews, and provide guidance on professional development.Work with 2-3 Scrum Teams, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive technical standard, architecture and decision making and support organizational project or product teams.Supports Product Owners and product teams to deliver value continuously, fostering and maintaining close links with customers and Tech organizations. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensures that technical delivery is fully compliant with GSK Security, Quality and Regulatory standards.Keeps relevant technical documentation up to date in support of the lifecycle plan for audits/reviews in compliance with GSK Standards. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance efficiency.Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in data and AI. Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.Proven experience in data engineering, machine learning, and AI operations:Hands on ETL / ELT process on structured and unstructured data'sMastery of SQL skills for efficient data manipulation (RDBMS ) and extraction, with experience in optimizing queries for large-scale datasetSupervised and Unsupervised Learning methods for Classification, Regression, Clustering, and anomaly detectionAdvanced features and frameworks understanding, such as TensorFlow or PyTorch in the context of ML applications.Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, SQL, C++, and Java.Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, including but not limited to AWS, Azure, GCP, coupled with a mastery of containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.Excellent leadership and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to drive strategic initiatives and lead cross-functional teams.Fluent in French and English.Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:Advanced degree (Master's.) in a relevant field.Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices, as well as expertise in CI/CD pipelines, with experience integrating and automating workflows using tools like Jenkins or GitLab C.Familiarity with SAP is a plus (eWM is appreciated).Deep content knowledge of specific domain is a plus (HBSM & Clinical Laboratories)Familiarity with Network setup and implementation, including proficiency in networking tools and protocols.Familiarity with Analytical systems, encompassing PowerBI (DAX experience is a plus), Spotfire, etc.., experience in integrating and visualizing data from diverse sources.Certifications in relevant technologies or frameworks.If you are a visionary leader with a passion for data and AI, and you thrive in a collaborative and dynamic environment, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity to shape the future of our data and AI operations.
