About Freire Schools
Established in 1999, Freire Schools is a network of four charter schools across Philadelphia and Delaware whose mission is to prepare students from historically underserved communities for success in college and beyond. About the team
For the Teaching and Learning Manager position, you'll be working for our central network office known as Freire Schools Collaborative. The network office supports and guides the four Freire campuses, advances Freire Schools' mission, and thoughtfully plans Freire Schools' future, enabling teachers and school staff to stay focused on their critical work with students and families. Network office roles are generally hybrid roles, with some time required in-person at our campuses or in our office located in center city Philadelphia.
The Teaching and Learning Team drives the big-picture vision for academics at each of our four schools. This vision includes all aspects of teaching and learning, including curriculum, instruction, data analysis, professional learning, and teacher development. We work closely with both the academic leadership teams at each of our four schools and our network office. We keep the 30,000-foot view in mind, while also remaining flexible to the dynamic needs of each of our schools. On our team, kids and teachers are at the heart of everything we do. The ideal candidate believes in the power of great materials in the hands of great teachers to make learning come alive for kids.
What you'll do
As a member of the Teaching and Learning team, you'll support teachers and school leaders across Freire's four schools in implementing rigorous, high-quality curriculum and instruction that centers student thinking, growth, and achievement in order to ensure that all Freire students are prepared for success in college and beyond.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Director of Teaching and Learning and Heads of Academics to lead standards internalization and curriculum implementation in across content areas in our four schoolsDevelop and facilitate professional learning opportunities for teachers and teacher-leaders that deepen their understanding of content and standards and are grounded in Freire's framework for excellent teaching and learningConduct classroom observations and provide specific and actionable feedback to both school leaders and teachersAdvance students' reading and math proficiency by proposing, implementing, and supporting intervention programsMaintain curiosity about and remain up-to-date on educational research, and think creatively about how to effectively act upon this research in our schools

You are a big-picture thinker who believes that the combination of high-quality instructional materials and passionate teachers will drive student achievement to limitless heights. We're looking for someone that meets the minimum requirements in order to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
4 years of K-12 public or charter teaching experience, particularly in high-needs schoolsPrior leadership experience (e.g. teacher-leader experience: mentor teacher, department chair, grade-level chair, extra-curricular leadership; school leadership experience: instructional coach, director of curriculum of instruction, assistant principal or principal, director of student activities, etc.)Robust understanding of the PA Core and Common Core Standards in math and ELA and/or NGSS/STEELSSuperior grasp of effective instructional methods that allow students to do the intellectual heavy liftingA strong ability to develop relationships and work with various members of our school community, from students to teachers to heads of schoolBachelor's degree
Preferred qualifications
Experience with high-quality instructional materials or curriculum implementation, particularly in math
Pay and benefits
The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000. Our benefits package includes health, dental, vision, and more. Pennsylvania employees are enrolled in Freire's 403(b) retirement plan which includes a 5% contribution from Freire.
