The selected candidate will be a member of the Energy Section in the Air Permits Division. This section reviews air quality applications for a variety of industrial sources including, but not limited to industries associated with the Oil and Gas industry, refineries, power generation and others.WHAT YOU WILL DOThis position is for a member of the Energy Section in the Air Permits Division.You would use your skills and experience to:Review air permit applications for proposed new and modified construction of facilities that may emit air pollutants for the Air Permits Division (APD) of the TCEQ.Analyzes routine air permit applications (i.e., projects), ensuring high quality work and completing the required quantity of projects within established timeframes. Conduct a comprehensive technical review for projects to include defining all sources of contaminants, applying appropriate federal and state requirements, reviewing emission calculations, drafting permit documents, and completing technical review summaries. Prepare public notice authorizations and completes associated tasks.Provide quality customer service to applicants, agency staff, other state/federal agencies, elected officials, stakeholders, and the general public concerning the applicability of federal and state requirements for the permitting process and the technical completeness of projects.Attend and assist in technical training activities concerning major and minor permit reviews. Participate in division, section, and team meetings.Assist in the development and maintenance of technical guidance packages and policy memos, assists in the coordination of streamlining activities, and represent the division and agency at meetings, training sessions, presentations, etc.Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSA bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, physical science, environmental science, or a related field.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelors in Science degree in any field of engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, biology, physics, geology, or environmental science/studies.Work or intern experience in an environmental related discipline.TRAININGThe Air Permits Division provides training for new employees which includes our Air Permitting 101 interactive training modules for staff that provides an overview of the division and responsibilities. In addition, a more comprehensive New Source Review (NSR) 101 training is conducted by senior technical staff explaining the technical review process an air permit application. Also, one-on-one training is conducted by a mentor or supervisor.TRANSCRIPTS / COLLEGE HOURS OR COURSE WORKSee instructions on how to attach documents.
