Job Summary
The Aerospace Corporation has provided independent technical and scientific research, development, and advisory services to national security space programs since 1960. We operate a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) for the United States Air Force and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and support all national security space programs.
The System-of-Systems Engineering (SOSE) Office provides a wide array of architectural and portfolio analysis capabilities and integrates expertise and other system analysis and design capabilities from across the Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) to support our customers' most challenging acquisition, portfolio, enterprise, and cross-system architectural decisions.

What skills you will need:Bringing expert analytic skills to bear working with portfolio decision tools, (e.g Portfolio Decision Support Tool (PDST)) in support of Aerospace program offices and government customers at NRO/SED, NOAA, ODNI and NASAProviding technical and analytical support to government customers in the portfolio decision support, risk analysis and enterprise portfolio planning areasUnderstanding and have experience with enterprise architecture, portfolio development and analysis and how to identify and articulate riskGood communication skills and the ability to document and identify potential challenges, gaps and recommendations on solving identified issues, work well within a team environmentUnderstanding and background of facilitating the deployment and implementation of appropriate Aerospace- and industry-developed digital engineering tools and frameworks with internal and government customersDeveloping, fostering and maintaining relationships with customers to better understand their portfolio problems and issues and shape them into analytic tasks to be supported by Aerospace capabilities at largeHave a foundation in Systems of Systems Engineering (SoSE), understanding the key concepts and how to employ them in a complex and complicated environmentIdentifying new capabilities and enhancements to current digital engineering capabilities to better support emerging needs in the areas of MBSE, enterprise integration and system of systems engineeringThe ability to work as part of a team or lead a team to scope and identify problem statements, develop and execute work plans that delivers resultsExperience in independently conducting long-range technical and programmatic studies and develop report findings and recommendationsWhat You Need to be Successful - Engineering Specialist
Minimum Requirements:
• Current TS/SCI clearance
• Undergraduate degree in engineering, science, or mathematics from an accredited program
• 6 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/technical experience, including experience in a systems engineering, and/or program management environment
• Demonstrated participation in portfolio-level analysis and architecting activities
• Demonstrated participation in multidisciplinary teams involving cost analysis, schedule analysis, risk analysis, portfolio-level trade studies, or budget build support
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt quickly to change, and demonstrate initiative under pressure
• Willing to travel domestically 1-2 times a year
• This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
What You Need to be Successful - Sr Engineering Specialist
Minimum Requirements:
• Current TS/SCI clearance
• Advanced degree in science, math, or engineering
• 12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environments
• Demonstrated successful leadership of portfolio-level analysis and architecting activities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Demonstrated successful leadership of broad, multidisciplinary teams involving cost analysis, schedule analysis, risk analysis, portfolio-level trade studies, or budget build support
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt quickly to change, and demonstrate initiative under pressure
• Willing to travel domestically approx. 10%
• This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
• Current TS/SCI clearance with Counter-Intelligence Polygraph
• Advanced degree in engineering, science, or mathematics from an accredited program
• Prior experience with Portfolio Analysis and/or Digital Engineering tools and processes
• Strong knowledge of systems-of-systems (SoS) engineering and enterprise architecting and model-based system engineering (MBSE) discipline (e.g Cameo), literature, tools, and processes
• Extensive knowledge of the breadth and depth of ETG's technical capabilities and customer base to include USSF, DOD, NASA, NOAA, ODNI, NGA, and NRO.
• Experience programming in Python and/or C++
