Your Career
As a Federal SASE Specialist Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in assisting teams deliver SASE-based solutions to clients, and helping those clients support desired outcomes related to branch office connectivity, mobile workforce support, secure application access, and zero trust implementation, while reducing risk to their missions. You will play a key role in navigating complex accounts in order to deliver winning technical solutions, proposals/RFP responses, demos and Proof of Value engagements. You will also help integrate SASE solutions into the overall Palo Alto Networks security portfolio, facilitate cross product integrations with Palo Alto products from the Prisma Cloud, Cortex, and Strata sub brands. As a member of a specialist team, you will be viewed as a technical leader and sales specialist, driving acceleration of the SASE platform while preparing for emerging technologies and federal market requirements.
Your Impact
Establish yourself as a trusted advisor to prospects and customers working with your Account Manager and the local partners within your territory
Identify and document specific problems with prospective and current customers which can be solved through the deployment of integrated solutions
Architect and propose validated solutions which address the identified cybersecurity problems in each unrivaled environment
Ensure ongoing customer happiness, support, and adoption
Continuous self-improvement and learning to maintain technical leadership of applicable technologies (data center, SDN, public cloud, security, networking, etc.)
Understand and effectively differentiate against our top competitors
Act as the customer advocate for any issues that require technical assistance and follow up with the customer until the issue is resolved
Your Experience
4+ years of experience as a successful client-facing pre-sales Systems Engineer, Consultant, or equivalent experience with a preference for government markets
Bachelors of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent or equivalent military experience required
Working knowledge of Palo Alto Networks products, with a focus on Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW), PAN-OS, Prisma Access/SD-WAN/SASE.
Experience that emphasizes L2-L4 Networks (L2 switching architectures including Spanning Tree, IP routing including OSPF and BGP, and L4 Load balancing)
Experience with, or knowledge of Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Experience with, or knowledge of SASE, SD-WAN, and CASB Architectures and Solutions; Working knowledge of the industry to include comparative technologies and vendors.
Prior experience selling network infrastructure-based security appliances, including but not limited to - Firewalls, SSL/IPSec VPNs, Security Proxies and Caches
Familiarity working with Channel partners and understanding of a channel-centric market approach
Experience and knowledge of modern network and cloud threats and malware, network forensics, automation tools and technologies, and endpoint security technologies
Experience with developing solutions involving several products and services that integrate into a client’s overall security and enterprise architecture
Working knowledge of Federal-relevant programs and Governance, Risk Management and Compliance frameworks such as CDM, EIS - MITRE ATT&CK, TIC, FISMA, FedRAMP, DISA Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide, NIST RMF, etc.
Strong analytical skills to evaluate complex problems and find a systematic approach to gain a quick resolution, often under duress
Mature and effective time-management skills
Experience working across teams and geographies to build new market opportunities and advocate for client needs internally with stakeholders such as product management/engineering, InfoSec, marketing, etc.
25-50% travel within the assigned region including client/partner meetings, speaking engagements, etc.
Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills
Ability to obtain a US DOD Security Clearance, if required by a client

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/com-missioned roles) is expected to be between $192,000/yr to $264,000/yr.
