Position Summary
The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining database systems. This role requires in-depth expertise in database administration, performance tuning and the ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment. The successful candidate will work with cross-functional teams to ensure the availability, security and efficiency of our database infrastructure. This highly skilled technical position requires intricate knowledge of the HP Non Stop environment and Open Source databases. We're seeking a great teammate that is willing to dig in and do what it takes to help the team succeed. We provide support for on premise and cloud databases (IaaS and DBaaS) including critical Tier-1 and Tier 2 systems that utilize high availability solutions with clustering and replication. Effective communication and collaboration with the DBA team, infrastructure teams and IS application teams is critical to achieving success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:• Design, implement and maintain database systems, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.• Perform database installations, upgrades and patches.• Monitor and proactively manage database performance. Identify and resolve issues as they arise.• Consult with the development and application teams to optimize database design and query performance.• Implement and maintain database security and access controls.• Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures. Participate in Disaster Recovery exercises.• Create and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.• Automate repeatable processes.• Provide technical support and guidance to junior database administrators.• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications• 5+ years of experience supporting critical databases in a highly available configurations.• 5+ years of experience in HPNS database engineering with proficiency in TACL programming, Measure, SCF and SQL/MP. Understanding of TMF configuration and limits. • 3+ years of experience in PostgreSQL, MariaDB or MySQL database engineering.Preferred Qualifications• Experience with PostgreSQL.• Experience with DBaaS (Azure, GCP, AWS).• Experience with automation using CI/CD pipelines and Ansible.• Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize work based on timeline requirements; ability to adjust work based on changing requirements.• Solid ability to diagnose issues and solve problems.• Ability to communicate clearly, accurately and professionally, both verbally and in writing.• Demonstrable ability to work independently with minimal supervision.EducationBachelor's degree
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$44.57 - $89.13
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
