　　Job Description Primary Function of Position:

　　Systems Analysts, with a vital and wide-ranging role, are primarily responsible for generating, debugging and tuning the key algorithms associated with Intuitive products, and providing analytic assistance to other engineering groups. The Systems Analyst, reporting to Senior Manager Systems Analysis, will investigate and resolve issues that impact the production process and system performances in the field.  The successful candidate will have the technical depth to troubleshoot advanced problems and initiate improvements. 

　　Roles & Responsibilities:

　　Design, develop, implement, and support product testing, calibration and diagnostics software algorithmsAddress issues at production and also in the field, perform analysis, evaluate risk, determine root causes, provide solutions, and propose design improvementsAnalyze complex medical electro-mechanical devices and servo control systems for safety and clinical risk, anticipate potential failure modes, and provide risk mitigation strategies Qualifications University Hiring Program Eligibility Requirements:

　　University Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in and returning to an accredited degree-seeking academic program in the Fall.Internship Work Period: Must be available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10-12 week period starting May or June. Specific start dates are shared during the recruiting process. Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:

　　Current enrollment in Controls Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related degree-seeking program at the Doctorate level. Master’s level students will also be considered based on specific relevant experience.Thorough theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in robot manipulator kinematics, dynamics, and control including motion and vision sensingDemonstrated sound engineering judgment and technical skills in real problem solving – from improving and optimizing performance levels to identifying issues, and making improvementsIn-depth knowledge of software principles, practices and techniques including testability, maintainability and scalability. Ability to write efficient and reliable codes in real-world environment is essentialProficient in Matlab and C/C++ is a must, and experience with Python and JavaScript or similar programming languages is a plus Additional Information

　　We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay (paid at an hourly rate), benefits, and a housing allowance. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including relevant skills and experience for this internship, degree-seeking academic program (PhD, Master’s, Bachelor’s, etc), year in school, and location. The hourly rate is prorated against the intern program salaries listed and total program compensation will be based on internship duration.
