Job Description
A utility client in the South Houston area has a need for an Associate Systems Analyst to join their Substation Operations Team. This role provides data entry, analysis and reporting, support, and coordination of activities relating to the continual operation and improvement of the clients substation system, supporting workforce, practices, and procedures. All the data this individual will be analyzing / working with surrounds the clients physical assets within substations. Every piece of equipment they own has 200-300 substations within the Houston area and there are thousands of assets in there. As that changes overtime or they get new build added, they must update the data within SAP database. There is a lot of information they will be dealing with- manufacturer, location, electrical ratings, etc. This individual will take that information, clean it up, verify it, format it correctly and enter it into SAP system. They will then use excel to manipulate it and clean it up. This individual will provide information to the analysts, who are putting the reports together, as well as the field operations, making sure they are looking at accurate records. This position will start as a data entry contract position and has the potential to develop into a more analytical position over time if budget and performance allow.
Responsibilities:
Maintains SAP master data supporting substation operation, assets, and activities. Creates and updates locations, equipment, maintenance, task list, measurement point, and other related records.
Maintains and processes new and decommissioned equipment information through various databases and utilities.
Support of estimation and creation of capital projects based on job scope and timelines. Perform completion processes of orders with collaboration of project leads and estimate variance information.
Analyze operational data and prepare various reports to team and leadership in support of planning, decision-making, inquiries, and recommendations.
Prepare reports and gather data for periodic operational efficiency assessments, audits, and review on behalf of Substation Operations.
Work effectively with both internal and external customers to deliver products and services which meet or exceed their expectations.
Complete complex assignments in a timely manner.
Skills and Requirements
2 years associate degree or bachelors degree + 6 months of experience in heavy day entry role OR 5 years of experience in heavy data entry role with no degree
Microsoft excel skills (vlookups, xlookups, writing formulas, manipulating data, pull info from one spreadsheet to another and compile into single source)
Comes from an operations background or field experience (construction operations)
Must possess strong computing skills, with aptitude in Microsoft 365 suite applications
Strong technical knowledge and communication skills with an ability to apply concepts towards general business principles.
Effective and clear communication skills to a wide range of audiences both written and orally.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and actively participate in collaborative projects and tasks. Ability to effectively lead such teams when needed.
Self-starting work ethic under minimal supervision.
Ability to manage stress under deadlines, risk, and uncertainty.
Ability to adapt and pivot to evolving technology, tools, software, and procedures.
Ability to effectively manage time to prioritize and complete complex assignments. SAP experience
Work orders, purchasing orders experience (in SAP)
Database query and scripting
Ability to interpret operational information related to substation systems.
Ability to comprehend and analyze and rationalize complex datasets (analysis and reporting data)
Reporting experience & creating dashboards (taken databases and turned them into reports)
POWER BI or Tableaux (will be supporting these tools) null
