Overview
To oversee, manage and direct Navy Federal’s Savings & Membership Innovation division, including Projects & Systems, Strategy, and Training branches. Provide division leadership to support the success of four key product teams within Navy Federal Credit Union: Membership, Savings, Debit Cards, and Digital Payments. Adopt and implement new strategies, flexible and efficient technologies, platforms, and processes to improve products and services within the Savings & Membership Department. Lead the development and implementation of department strategy and collaborate with department executives and related key personnel to execute short and long-term goals. Co-lead systems and technology implementations to achieve scalable and innovative platforms to improve efficiency and productivity. Direct Savings & Membership Innovation activities to drive department and corporate objectives, while ensuring alignment with the strategy, mission, vision, and values. Reports to SVP Savings & Membership.
Responsibilities
Assume responsibility/accountability for the leadership, direction, and management of the Navy Federal Savings & Membership Innovation division
Provide strategic recommendations to senior executive leadership regarding platforms and enterprise technologies that accelerate the delivery of business capabilities
Drive adoption of data as a critical enabler to making data driven decisions across the department and enterprise. Collaborate with senior executive leadership to develop, drive, and execute department strategy
Direct division operations to achieve goals and objectives, proactively affecting change by embracing new, flexible, and agile approaches as appropriate and challenging the status quo
Oversee the management of department technology and project portfolio and ensure efficient and effective execution of initiatives
Partner with technology and experience teams across the organization to ensure products, services, and experiences are designed and delivered to meet desired outcomes
Adopt and implement strategies to better serve our members through digital transformation
Partner with department executives, leadership and other key personnel to create and execute a strategic roadmap centered around best in class initiatives leveraging data, insights, and trends to implement short and long-term strategies that promote and achieve a culture of excellence
Develop and communicate a comprehensive department strategy aligned with the organization’s goals for Member Centric, Employee Powered, and Scalable & Flexible
Align staff and resources, processes and technologies to identify, implement, and optimize automation enhancement opportunities to improve quality and reduce manual work
Analyze the external environment (e.g., competitor practices, member needs and preferences, economic trends) and the internal environment (e.g., available technology, resource demands, existing Navy Federal practices and policies) and assimilate industry trends and best practices, new technologies, analytics, and continuous process improvements into department strategy
Provide in-depth analysis, reporting and recommendations for improving efficiency, communications, and member satisfaction to include analysis of competitive positioning, new product/service offerings, and cost-benefit considerations
Anticipate internal and/or external business challenges including regulatory, systems, and data issues
Ensure strategic alignment of department initiatives involving selection, evaluation and management of products, systems, and technologies that optimize Savings & Membership operations
Establish credibility throughout Navy Federal, and with executive peers, as an effective spokesman for his/her area of responsibility, and developer of solutions for business challenges
Monitor stakeholder and vendor relationships and expectations; ensure support, awareness and understanding through effective communication of new products, systems, and technologies to appropriate parties
Engage key stakeholders and leadership to re-design processes by identifying root causes and improvement opportunities
Perform supervisory and managerial responsibilities as leader of the program
Set direction to ensure goals and objectives align with corporate and division strategy
Select management and other key personnel; oversee talent development and succession planning
Oversee the preparation and execution of division Annual Financial Plan and budget
Manage merit pay in accordance with specified objectives and guidelines
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Extensive business and product experience in payments, deposits, debit cards, and customer onboarding
Extensive experience managing operations and technology systems in a large financial institution
Extensive experience leading and managing technical teams in agile
Advanced knowledge of technology product management and lean portfolio management
Extensive experience working with large, enterprise-wide automation platforms & technology systems
Extensive experience in unlocking team potential
Extensive experience in demonstrating thought-leadership, initiative taking, decision-making and creativity in solving business problems
Extensive experience in driving change management and influencing organizational culture and values
Extensive experience in managing cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects of the highest complexity which have business risk and impact
Expert skill developing and implementing programs in a leadership role, providing vision and strategic thinking around a full range of technical decisions and issues
Expert skill in leading project teams; managing timelines/deadlines/resources; ensuring successful project implementation
Extensive experience in client/vendor management to achieve strategic/tactical goals and implementation
Expert analytical/quantitative, reconciliation and deductive reasoning skills
Expert skill interpreting and synthesizing large amounts of information
Expert skill leading with diplomacy and tact while maintaining appropriate assertiveness and persistence
Expert skill in results-oriented leadership in a challenging environment

Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Economics, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience
