  JOB SUMMARY:

  The Survey Party Chief is responsible for the use of surveying equipment and the collection and use of spatial data for mapping and construction. This position will provide staking, topographic data collection, field verification, as-built, establish control networks, and machine control support. This position will report to field project locations in and around the Houston-Metro area. Survey requests may periodically be needed for project locations throughout the nation, depending on company needs.

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  Manage and coordinate survey crew to ensure projects are surveyed correctly.Purchase, track, and maintain survey equipment and supplies to ensure profitable completion of the project.Verify and/or provide project control surveys and monuments.Provide field surveys and layouts in an accurate and timely manner.Assist Quality Control as required to verify field layout and survey data.Obtain and record as-built survey data as required to ensure compliance and accuracy.Provide technical assistance as required for machine control operations and grade-checking personnel.Verify and provide 3D surface models for quantity, survey, and machine control applications.Provide training to project personnel in survey, machine control technology, and techniques.Interact with owners representatives both informally and formally as appropriate.Understand, advocate, participate in, and fully comply with Brice Civils project specific safety procedures and policies.Travel for work related purposes for extended periods of time, as needed.Work as a team player with co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner.Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.Perform other duties as directed.SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS:

  May supervise laborers or other personnel that will assist with surveying.

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

  Technical knowledge of various field construction concepts, practices, and procedures.Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the projects contract, specifications, schedule, and budget as it relates to the survey.Extensive knowledge of surveying and heavy civil construction.Familiarity with GPS systems, machine control systems, and late model survey equipment.Ability to create, read, and understand complex documents, construction plans, and specifications.Skill in organizing resources, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines, and general time management.Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work without direct supervision.Ability to work productively under pressure.Ability to actively listen and provide high quality customer service.Ability to do business ethically with customers, vendors, and co-workers.Excellent collaboration, verbal, and written communication skills.Ability to travel for extended periods of time.Ability to work a flexible work schedule.Ability to manage surveying responsibilities for multiple projects.Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and effective manner.Ability to work with concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  Current Professional Land Surveyor license preferred or applicable experience.Minimum 3 years experience in a survey crew.Strong experience in the theory and practice of collecting and reducing survey data.Previous experience with construction surveying, machine control operations, and civil construction projects.Experience using Trimble GNSS Base/Rover, Robotic Total Stations, and GPS/UTS machine control preferred.Valid state drivers license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Companys Driving Policy.Ability to pass drug, driving, and background screening WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Brice Civil Constructors has a fast-paced multi-tasking office environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. At times, work is performed outside of the office at indoor and outdoor job sites. Adaptability regarding schedule and design changes and occasional overtime for immediate field support or bid processing may be necessary.
