What you will be doing
Under the direction of the Repair Lab Supervisor, the Securos Surgical Instrument Repair Lab Technician II will be responsible for the daily servicing of surgical instruments. Duties include: repair, inspection, cleaning, polishing, burring, and brazing. The Associate will participate in the creation and maintenance of procedural methods, and will participate in coordinating workflow, as well as selecting equipment and tools required to support the Repair Lab activities. He/she will participate in color dotting (or similar) activities and be held accountable for safety standards implemented in the workspace.
• Assume work flow and meeting due dates of repairs, etching and color dot work when the Repair Lab Supervisor is absent.
• Works with industrial machinery to service and repair surgical instruments for veterinary use.
• Repair services consist of, but are not limited to: sharpening, alignment, refinishing, refurbishing and brazing of all surgical instruments.
• Use polishing equipment to achieve a high quality instrument repair as defined by customer work orders or other written documentation.
• Be able to accomplish instrument identification processes such as color dotting and etching.
• Be able to accurately complete work order summaries.
• Be able to maintain inventory of parts and supplies in the repair center and submits order requests for new products and/or vendors.
• Be able to work in a team environment to identify tools and equipment necessary to support SPO's and improvements in efficiencies in cellular areas and inline processes.
• Be able to work in a team environment to conform with SOP's and Securos safety procedures necessary to meet work flow, turnaround time and quality standards.
• Be able to explain work defects (written and verbal) to Securos set standards in quality and functioning movement of instruments.
• Works closely with the Wet Lab supervisor to ensure quality instrumentation for teaching.
• Act as a team player in facilitating the repair lab to set daily output targets.
• Communicates effectively with customers; listens to customers' needs and takes appropriate action to meet such needs.
• Knowledge of all instrument repair equipment such as, Bench Grinder, Mill, Press, Etch Maker, Utility Sharpener, Belt Sanders, Polishers and Ultrasonic cleaners with skills to service instruments as needed.
• Follow established work procedures and standard practices. Aid in footnotes and "ERF" (Engineer Request Forms) in work procedures and standard practices as needed.
• Maintain clean work areas and follow guidelines of organization and equipment preventative care by utilizing 5s (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
• Identify and track required equipment service. Participate in equipment service and identify any abnormalities in repair lab equipment and seek assistance.
• Works directly with Supervisor to identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Participates in ongoing continuing education and training seminars as related to the job description for both himself/herself and shop personnel.
• Performs additional duties and assignments as needed.
What your background should look like
High School diploma or equivalent is necessary. Minimum five years instrument repair experience and/or polishing and burring experience, mechanical aptitude and experience using instrument repair equipment such as Utility Sharpeners, Belt Sanders and Bench Grinders is preferred.
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, presentation, attention to detail, organizational skills, and excellent team work are necessary.Ability to multi-task, follow written and verbal instructions, work independently and with a team with limited supervision.Advanced working knowledge and proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word are required.Previous experience in animal health industry will be helpful.
