Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the E&I Supervisor is responsible for supervising and providing technical direction to multi-skilled specialists at our petrochemical facility to meet the needs of operations in a safe, reliable, efficient and environmentally sound manner. Candidates in this position will work with minimal supervision while self-directing their work to identify, locate, and correct operational problems arising in control systems and instruments in the high purity specialty hydrocarbons processes as well as in utility systems such as boilers, water treatment, and other related auxiliary equipment. Tasks expected to be performed include trouble-shooting and problem solving, inspecting, cleaning, calibrating, replacing defective parts, and repairing electronic and mechanical instruments and controls, including but not limited to gauges, flow meters, thermometers, transmitters, weight scales, and control valves. Tasks also include testing and repairing electronic and pneumatic control devices and properly documenting the status of instruments and controls and all activities performed on such instruments and controls.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees quality of work, safety and overall performance of assigned staffPlans, organizes and oversees all work schedules for assigned employeesAssists engineering, operations and all other crafts as neededCoordinates with operations in scheduling equipment for repairs, construction and developing work plansLeads plant improvements including equipment upgrades and capital projectsMonitors and enforces contractor compliance to company safety and environmental regulationsOrders plant instrument controls and indicators while overseeing the calibration requirements of all instrumentationMaintains electrical and instrumentation equipment in the plant, office and maintenance shops to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of equipmentLeads safety discussions and demonstrate leadership behavior that reinforces safety policies and cultureWork closely with contracted electrical services to ensure that proper training and certifications are maintained to ensure optimal levels of serviceTeams with others in the plant to ensure the maintenance of productive relationships where the incumbent interfaces as client or service providerAssists in the development and direct implementation of the E&I Group annual budget to ensure meeting stated plant goals and objectivesPerforms employee performance appraisals and development to ensure a highly skilled technician work forceOversee and supervise activities of contractors working onsite in E&I jobs as well as contracted electriciansCoordinate activities with the Maintenance Manager and Engineers for specific design, installation and upgrade to instrumentation and controls systemBe available beyond normal business hours with minimal reasonable notice as may be required by the businessConduct and/or assist in the investigation of plant operational problems, incidents, accident and unusual eventsProvide input and recommendations for reports and follow up plans
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Five or more years of experience in an E&I role within a chemical plant or similar industryPrior supervisor responsibilities in a similar maintenance role
EDUCATION LEVEL:
An Associate's Degree in a technical or science field or equivalent experience3 years of supervisory/technical work experience or 6 years in supervisory and/or technical positions that develop an individual's abilities in the job's major competencies
REQUIRED SKILLS:

Provides training, mentorship and coaching for subordinates and peersSupervises, schedules and coordinates work of contracted electriciansProvides on-call coverage to ensure orderly conduct of businessTracks head count and verifies timesheets to ensure cost and schedule compliance
WORK CONDITIONS:
Work environment ranging from office to in-plantPlant exposures include all weather elements as well as noise, dust, extreme heat and activities such as climbing stairs and wearing personal protective equipment including occasional use of respirators
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping. Job conditions may require making visual inspections, lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs, climbing up to 100ft, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates, with valid state driver's license and proof of insurance, working in confined spaces, and perceiving color differences.
