Flexibility while assisting in the daily care of children ages 0-6 years in the Center as outlined on your daily schedule. Assume the role of Primary Teacher when covering the classroom for lunch breaks, planning times, paid time off, etc. Assist in housekeeping, organizing, food service, project preparation and other general activities for Kohl’s Child Development Center (CDC), Kohl’s on-site childcare. Provide training and mentoring to associates.

Maintain safety, care, nurturance, and active/appropriate supervision of children in your care
Uphold/implement curriculum set forth by the Primary Teachers and follow Developmentally Appropriate Practices
Accurately track children in your care and maintain appropriate teacher/child ratios during the course of your shift
Assist Primary Teachers in maintaining a classroom environment that meets all state and Kohl’s policies/procedures including but not limited to appropriate child guidance techniques
MAINTAIN NECESSARY CERTIFICATION TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES
Attend all staff meetings and recommended/required training
Meet yearly continuing education requirements
Ensure necessary documentation for First Aid and Infant/Child CPR with AED training is met on a bi-annual basis
PROVIDE QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE TO OUR CUSTOMERS AT EACH INTERACTION
Treat all of the children with dignity and respect
Maintain confidentiality of the children and parents
Work well with fellow associates and supervisors to ensure the needs of the children
Write meaningful messages notes in brightwheel™ app relaying information to the parents from the Primary Teacher and/or from the parents to the Primary Teacher as the need arises and charting all diaper changes, feedings, naps, daily activities, etc.
Greet parents and children throughout the center
ADDENDUM
OVERSEE ALL OPENING AND CLOSING PROCEDURES
Open the building which includes checking voicemails, adjusting schedules and coordinating associate coverage
Oversee drop off and pick up process - answer any questions from parents
Close the building which includes keeping track of children exiting and overseeing dismissing teachers for the day as classrooms get into ratio
Follow any and all necessary policies in the event of an emergency
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
Intro to Child Care Profession (formerly EC1) certified (can obtain upon start, if hired)
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others
If hired, Drug Screen, Health Exam, Fingerprint Based Background Check and TB test required
PREFERRED
Skills and Strategies for the Child Care Teacher (formerly EC2) certified
Educational background in Early Childhood
80 full days (or 120 half days) working experience in a licensed childcare facility
First Aid and Infant/Child CPR with AED training
Fundamentals of Infant/Toddler Development Certified
Abusive Head Trauma Certified
Child Abuse/Neglect Certified
Customer service experience
Regular attendance is key to performing the job
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to travel from Site 1 to Site 2 to Summer Camp when applicable
Able to lift 40lbs
Standing, sitting, squatting, bending, twisting, walking, and moving at a fast pace
Flexibility within hours of operation
